Potential Spring Game Cancellation

Submitted by king_kerridge on

Check the weather and mgoblue.com before you head out to the Big House tomorrow...

Hi Parents!

There is a chance that the game will be canceled tomorrow due to the weather.  In the event that happens, we will move the scrimmage to the Glick Field House.  The game will not be open to the public, but players' immediate families will be permitted in Glick.  We understand that almost every family has extra guests coming to the game, but we will only be able to accommodate immediate family.

Please come to the side doors of Oosterbaan Field House (by the softball field) if the game is canceled at the Stadium, and checkMGoBlue.com beginning at 6AM for information on cancellation.

See you soon!

Inclement Weather Expected Saturday for Mott Spring Game

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan Athletic Department has been following the weather map and conditions that are expected for Saturday (April 14) during the Mott Spring Game presented by PNC Bank and the "Battle at the Big House" men's lacrosse game against Ohio State. The radar shows a 60-percent chance of thunderstorms.

"We are concerned about the weather conditions that are expected in Ann Arbor at the time of our scrimmage and lacrosse game," said Rob Rademacher, U-M's associate athletic director for facilities and operations. "We will cancel the events at the stadium if the safety of our fans, players and staff is compromised by the weather. Cancellation is a possibility given the reports we have received from local weathermen and from radar."

The athletic department will make a final decision on whether or not to cancel the events held at Michigan Stadium around 6 a.m. on Saturday.

If weather causes cancellation, the football team will hold its final spring practice indoors at Al Glick Field House. The scrimmage will not be open to the public because of space limitations but will still be broadcast on Big Ten Network.

The men's lacrosse game between Michigan and Ohio State will be played at Michigan Stadium or move indoors to Oosterbaan Field House adjacent to Schembechler Hall. The game is free to the general public and will be played at 2:30 p.m.

Fans should check MGoBlue.com for updates on Saturday's Mott Spring Game and the "Battle at the Big House." Listen to AM 1050 WTKA, WWJ and 97.1 FM The Ticket for updates on whether or not the events will take place on Saturday at Michigan Stadium.

this changes almost nothing for us.

All it really does it make it even more of a family atmosphere.

1. make a familiest atmosphere. 2. make parents of players recruit parents of recruits. 3. ? 4. Profit.

Valuable information for people who don't click on every dumbass topic gets posted within a thread that provides no new information or insight in its opening post, which a reasonable reader would skip because many people don't care to read a thread about mgoblog users' predictions of the score or events of a meaningless scrimmage.

And then someone else has the audacity to post a meaningful, useful thread title that actually conveys information.....and he/she gets shit on because he/she thought the rest of us didn't want to read through a useless pre-spring game spring game open thread.

Which thread is a greater waste of space:  "let's predict the score for the spring game!!" or "the game might be moved indoors and no longer available to the public"

This point, although it was conveyed in a very rash, abrasive and assholish manner, is a very very good point.

Me thinks that the best way to stop all of the confusion and negativity on the board is for people to stop being nitpicky and shit-headed about every possible thing. Treat each post as if it were that person talking to you in public. (If we acted in public the way we do when our chests are puffed out and we are feeling extra manly on a message board, we'd probably get hit in the mouth or laughed at, silently).

Either way the dude who's comment I'm replying to makes a good point, he's just frustrated.

I just woke up and it looks like the rain has been pushed back. The tailgate and Alumni Game has a 15% or less chance of rain. The Spring Game at noon is still at 50% but it looks like the chance of lightning has diminished. Game On!
