Post Week 10 Utterly Useless Bowl Predictions

This stuff is completely useless in weeks 3-5-7 etc and only slightly less so in week 10-11 but with apologies to Discuss Man for stealing his weekly gig, here are some projections.

Jerry Palm

UM v UF in Citrus (no change from last week)

This would be a matchup in UM's wheelhouse in terms of 2 teams that parallel with good defenses and meh offenses.  Also a rematch of a classic bowl game about a decade ago, and a foreshadowing of the opening game in 2017.  But mostly it's a good matchup for UM.  But maybe boring to casual audience in a #M00F or #F00M kind of way.

Palm's others:

  • OSU v Stanford in playoff 1 v 4 @ Orange Bowl
  • Iowa v Utah @ Granddaddy of em all
  • MSU v Fig Things @ Peach

SB Nation guy is on something ...

....as he has USC (with 3 losses) being taken to the Rose as the 1B seed out of the P12 (with Stanford in playoffs as 1A) over Utah.  But whatever he is on has USC facing - Meeechigan.  Oh yeah.  This would be a classic blue blood matchup with THE two most multifacted players in college football - super sophomores Adoree Jackson v Jabrill Peppers.  USC has speed galore and a very good QB but our staff with 5 weeks to prepare is something I like.  And did I mention Rose Bowl?

The scenario has UM beating OSU so no Big 10 in playoff and no ND (Clemson, Bama, Stanford, B12 rep ...in this case Baylor)  I could live with that.

  • OSU v Houston (haha) @ Peach
  • MSU v UF @ Citrus

My prediction:

UM (B1G champion)

UF (SEC champion)

USC (PAC12 champion)

TCU (B12 champion)

All going to playoff. ND loses to Stanford. Stanford loses to USC. TCU wins every game left and gets ranked #1. Alabama loses to UF badly. LSU loses another game.

Everyone is making stuff up. Why not me. /s

Edit: Forgot Clemson. Clemson will be Clemsoning.

Most any team with a pulse would beat Iowa pretty handily.

Credit them for winning the games that are on their schedule, but they are heading for a buzz saw with whoever they play in the BTCG. And whoever they end up playing in a bowl game would probably manhandle them too.

The team I am least excited to face in a bowl game would be Florida. We've already played them twice in the last 13 years and won both games. If we are going to have some SEC rerun opponent, I hope it's at least a team that beat us last time so we can try to even the score.

I will eat an unpeeled pineapple if the Rose Bowl takes Iowa and Utah. That's ratings/revenue suicide. It'll be the top B1G team that is available and not coached by Kirk Ferentz against the top PAC12 team with mostly pronounceable last names. Obviously the dream for the Rose Bowl is us and Stanford each winning our conference and missing the playoffs. New Baugh v. Old Baugh in the Grand Daddy of them Baughll. I will put in my Michigan 49, Stanford 0 prediction right now, ala 1902.
