Post-Spring Game Bold Predictions Thread

Submitted by dinsdale613 on

Now that we have all had time to over-react to the Spring Game,  Here is the chance to either make yourself look like a genius or a fool come next fall.  I'll get it started with a few of my own

- Fitz will have more yards, but Rawls will lead the team in rushing touchdowns

-  One of the freshmen wide receivers will start at least 5 games

- The defense will give up more rushing yards per game, but will increase their sack total from last year

- Chris Wormley will be Roh's primary back up

- Blake Countess will lead the team in picks.

(I know some of these aren't exactly bold,  but's its just a fun exercise to get some discussion going on a sunday morning)

BWC channels his inner beast and has a breakout season.

Denard lights up defenses with his passing as Michigan's offense makes a similar leap that the defense made last year.

Brendan Gibbons will again be crediting brunette girls in the Aladama post-game press conference.

Justice Hayes emerges as a key contributor at slot receiver.

Roy Roundtree will lead the Big Ten in receiving yards.

Michigan's defense leads Big Ten in rushing yards allowed and points allowed.

A 12-1 Michigan team is the topic of BCS title-game controversy as U-M is passed over in favor of the SEC champion with the same record.

1) offense out of the spread look will be great and will be the primary source of offense.

2) we will complain to no end about not being able to convert on 3rd&2.

3) roundtree will have a huge year. Better then Hemingway 2011. Also neither freshmen wr will red shirt and one will be in consideration for big ten freshman of the year.

4) pipkins will see time but BWC will actually hold down the main role

5) bellomy will throw a pass in a game this year.

6) the Michigan state game will be a defensive battle that won't allow more then 30 overall Pts.

7) sorry but Michigan does start 0-1. Probably not in great fashion either 31-10 my guess.

8) 8-4 regular season losses to Bama, Sparty, Ohio. And a loss that should never happen but always does: Iowa'esk

9) somebody will put big ten champs on this forum

10) chances are I will get down voted for saying we will lose to Sparty and Ohio

(1) Michigan has a harder time moving the ball against Alabama than they did against Va Tech ... and we move it even less than LSU did against Bama in the title game. (2) Denard throws even more pics than last year (3) The offense gets more rushing yards than last year, and Denard's rushing attempts per game are up over 30% from last year. (4) We lose to Bama & ND, but stay in the Big Ten race all the way to the last week.

Going out on a limb here...

 - Denard Robinson's successful test of the first practical dilithium-powered warp drive system grabs the attention of  the Vulcans, who initiate first contact with humans on  the field at Michigan Stadium, thereby bringing an unprecendented period of advancement and prosperity on  Earth.

- The Wolverines successfully reintroduce the midriff cut jersey.

- Jack Kennedy makes a game-winning Hail Mary in our triumph over the Spartans.

- Blake Countess makes all interceptions with one hand on the ball

- Mattison introduces a blitz package that involves only Jordan Kovacs

- Jareth Glanda gets some time at WR

I'm in....

Roundtree ends up with the #1 jersey after scoring 3 TDs in the blowout win against Alabama.

Michigan wins the BiG and goes 12-1 but gets snubbed for the BCS Title Game as voters pick an 11-1 USC team instead.

Denard comes in second for the Heisman to Matt Barkley.

My wife doesn't hassle me when I tell her I'm going to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl

I'm afraid thats as bold as I can be.

discovers he loves the Bubble Screen.  Gallon tears up ND for 4 TDs.  Gives credit to Brian and MGoBlog for helping him see the light.  Creates weekly diary seeking input for each week's game plan.

We will start 3 freshmen at receiver this year. Borges snaps at halftime of the Alabama game and changes quarterbacks. Mgoblog stops hyping up the spread. Fitzs wins the heisman.

1) no freshman OL will start a game this season (kalis will not redshirt though)

2) a freshman wr will lead the team in receiving tds but not yard or catches

3) the last game maxwell starts for MSU is the U of M game

4) no junior declares early for the draft

5) pipkins will have more sacks than BWC

BWC shows up to fall camp looking outrageously strong and has an All Big Ten season.  Ondre Pipkins starts at no point this season, and many people on MGoBlog fail to see how good of a thing that is.

Kerridge will score 6 touchdowns against bama, Rawls will score the other 4 and we will trounce the defending champs 70-0 as their strategy to shutdown Denard grossly backfires on them.

1. Denard and Fitz both get invited to New York. They won't be the only teammates there, as Matt Barkley and Robert Woods will be there too.

2. Antonio Poole will be mentioned in the All B1G conversation.

3. This year's defense will be statistically better than the mythical 2006 defense.

4. Jordan Kovacs will be named 1st Team All-American, along with Blake Countess and Denard Robinson.

5. Desmond Howard reveals that he is Denard's true father. Denard smiles.

6. Michigan goes undefeated. At the championship trophy presentation, Brady Hoke double points at Dave Brandon with such tenacity that his head actually explodes. This will make Denard smile even harder.

Down 7 to Ohio with :02 left on the clock, Ohio State kicks off. Deep for Michigan is Denard Robinson. After juking his way to the Ohio twenty yard line, Denard laterals to Drake Johnson who runs it in for the touchdown. Instead of kicking the extra point, Hoke calls the same Dileo-to-Glanda play from the Virginia Tech game from his rectal horseshoe playbook, which is perfectly executed.

Also, Michigan recovers a lower percentage of fumbles than they did last year.

  • Denard rushes for 1,500 yards and passes for 2,500 yards.  He throws 22 TDs and 10 INTs
  • BWC is good-but-not-great and keeps his starting role but Pipkins still plays A LOT.
  • Beyer/Clark combine for 10 sacks
  • Roy Roundree catches 45-50 passes and scores 8 TDs
  • Fitz runs for almost 1,400 yards and scores 16 total TDs (4 receiving) and leaves for the NFL.
  • Rawls runs for 4 TDs
  • Funchess is our leading receiver at TE
  • None of the freshman WRs make an impact
  • Jake Ryan is All-B1G, and also wrestles and kills a hippopotamus with his bare hands.
  • There will be no "surprise" loss this year.  The only possible losses are: 'Bama, ND, Nebraska, ohio.
  • Yes, I left MSU off that list, and would consider that a "surprise" loss.

The next stop for Bosa was Columbus, Ohio, where he checked out UrbanMeyer's Buckeyes.

"Everything (stood out)," Bosa said. "I loved it there."

The tour concluded with a stop at Michigan. Bosa said it was tough coming off the heels of arguably his best visit yet but that one member of Brady Hoke's staff really madehim feel welcomed to Ann Arbor.

"It was hard to top Ohio State after coming from there," Bosa said. "But Coach (Greg) Mattison is awesome."

Entering the visits, Bosa had a top four of Alabama, Florida, Ohio State, and Wisconsin. At the conclusion of the visits, that list has been shaken up drastically.

"I think it's going to come down to Ohio State and Michigan," Bosa said.

Bosa now claims a current top four of Alabama, Florida State, Michigan, and Ohio State - in no order. He isn't quite prepared to take the next step and make his decision.

"No decision date," Bosa said. "Probably summer."

Bosa said he doesn't have any visit plans madeat this time. He

The last time Michigan was an underdog against Alabama (2000 Orange Bowl), they dug themselves a 14-0 hole, and yet somehow, miraculously, Tom Brady willed his team to an overtime victory.

If there's anything we've learned about Denard, he has that kind of will. I think he'll do it.

I believe that we will beat ND in their house. We will defeat MSU at ours.

Nebraska will be a struggle, but my honest belief looking at both teams is that Michigan has developed more talent on both sides of the ball.

We will clobber the likes of Iowa and the other also-rans. We will be undefeated going into Columbus. And Denard will have the game of his life, locking up the Heisman and putting an exclamation point on his career.

We will win the B1G Championship game.

We will go to the Rose Bowl because USC and some SEC school will lock up the MNC game. And we won't care, because the Rose Bowl is the real deal, not some trumped up, johnny come lately, fake, computer and poll driven thing dominated by Southern politicians.

But realistically....We probably lose to Bama. No one wears the #1 Jersey. No one wins the heisman. Denard improves as a passer and cuts down on interceptions. He also leads the team in rushing. Fitz goes for about 1300 yds. Gallon is the leading receiver in yards, touchdowns and catches. we DO see Devin at receiver (although not fulltime). Countess leads in interceptions. We finally beat Sparty. We beat Ohio again. We beat ND. We win the B1G championship. We face Oregon in the Rose Bowl. We win the Rose Bowl. We end the season only losing to Alabama. Fitz stays for his senior year. No one leaves early to go pro. Tate Forcier cries somewhere watching his former Wolverines win the Rose Bowl. Committs come in rapidly and still in 2's.
