I like this part of the first comment:

"You would do well to revisit what you have seen over the past three years and hold your euphoria in check until you see some serious outcomes on the actual field of Big Ten combat."

I watched the South Dakota v Minnesota game.  All I can say is that if Minnesota plays the rest of the season like they did against SD, they're in for a long year.   SD threw for about 350 yds on Minnesota.

It seemed like Min. should have handled SD easily but just wouldn't.  They came out flat and were behind 28-10 at one point.  Shocking, and too bad we aren't playing them this year!

I for one expect a major uptick in talent. On paper it's a world of difference and I expect it will be the case on the field. I don't think we should beat Penn State or OSU yet but we should be on a par with Iowa and Wisky and absolutely win the others. The wild card will be USC, who knows what is in their minds.

Yup, on par with a BCS winner and a Wisky team that throttled Miami (YTM) in its bowl.  Maybe if Glen Mason wasn't fired...

I lfound it interesting that people keep pointing out that "finally this is Brew's team".  I know that he brought in some decent recruits, but I always thought the big complaint with Brewster was that he never got the type of players you needed to compete in the Big 10 consistently, even though the thinking was that it was his ace-in-the-hole compared to Mason.

Les Miles.   Perhaps if the bedspins continue at Minny and LSU this might make sense.  I can see Miles doing relatively good things there.  Hang out with Prince and Mo Day.

With the new stadium, Minnesota's start makes no sense unless the wheels are coming off.   Miles might recover but he is likely getting sick of Saban getting credit for his NC year.

Watching BTN recap of the day last Saturday, Mason was glowing.  It was pretty funny to watch actually and i think Revsine and Dinardo were laughing as well.  Mason was a good coach who won most of the games he should.  The gophers thought they were more than what they were and expected Rose Bowls and higher tier bowls.  I guess firing Mason blew up in their faces.

It's not that I expect that we're going to lose, or even struggle much, but I'm just that superstitious and reluctant to taunt the gods and tempt fate. But yeah, Minny firing Glen Mason was one of the most ludicrous cases of somebody thinking they were much hotter than they actually were that I've ever seen.

From the baseball movie Little Big League (great movie btw):

"To tell you the truth, sir, we could really use the publicity.  I mean, it's only June, and people are already talking about Gopher football."

to our Gopher friends, I saw some pretty ridiculous predictions for Michigan football the last 3 years.

Some fans just have a way of not grasping reality or a certain perspective on things.

Some fans just have a way of not grasping reality or a certain perspective on things.

Of course - they're fan(atic)s, which are by definition "marked  by excessive enthusiasm and often intense uncritical devotion."

Speaking of Michigan football predictions, it's quite entertaining to go back and check out diclemeg's "It's all about DENARD" series of posts and the ensuing shitstorms.
