Post-Game Open Thread (Keep Opinions Here)
As a favor to the mods, I would suggest everyone put their gripes and VERY IMPORTANT PERSONAL OPINIONS in this one place for everyone's sake. It didn't happen after PSU and the tailspin the board took afterwards made nobody happy.
I'm off to drink and act like I care about the Rose Bowl

But...
I was on board after last season for keeping GERG re: stability and improvement. Therefore any opinion I have on anything is worthless because I suck.
I suggest contest: posbang for honesty, nebang for my idiotness
January 1st, 2011 at 5:48 PM ^
I too thought good things about GERG. I said, "Hey, he's won a super bowl ring, he must be better than Shafer." Think I shall neg myself now.

Change may be a bitter pill to swallow, but does anyone really want things to stay the same?
To quote Thom Yorke.... "Don't look down, just shove it in, your mouth."

At least next year we'll be better?
January 1st, 2011 at 5:06 PM ^
I don't think Michigan fans want Brady Hoke to be hired b/c they are afraid of us becoming the target of fat jokes. There I said it.
January 1st, 2011 at 5:13 PM ^
I don't want Brady Hoke....I also would like Boise's Chris Peterson and Tcu's Gary Patterson to get interviews if JH doesn't come here.

<br>Is there any situation where Coach Rod comes back?
January 1st, 2011 at 5:23 PM ^
it would be shocking if he survives post-season review.
January 1st, 2011 at 5:34 PM ^
There would be rioting in the streets if DB keeps RR. And I'm only half-joking.
January 1st, 2011 at 5:36 PM ^
If RR fires his entire D staff and some ST coaches plus agrees to meet specific performance metrics ie. 10 or more wins, a top 3 finish in Big Ten and a bowl win to keep his job past 2011.
AND
If Harbaugh or another MAJOR name wont take the job.
January 1st, 2011 at 5:42 PM ^
If RR comes back then I doubt you'll see even a 3/4 full Big House on Saturdays.
January 1st, 2011 at 6:00 PM ^
UM Football as a program, tradition and experience is bigger than its head coach.
January 1st, 2011 at 6:19 PM ^
But will everyone show up...or sell them?
January 1st, 2011 at 5:17 PM ^
I don't want Hoke to be hired because I don't see how he'd be an improvement over Rodriguez. If he had replaced Carr in 2008, I think the team probably would be even worse than it is now. The defense would probably have the same lack of experienced talent it does now, the offense would be same old same old with Threet and no game-breaking RBs, and Hoke probably would not have recruited even as well as Rodriguez did. Most likely we would have gone 5-7, 5-7, 6-6 and Hoke would have been fired.
January 1st, 2011 at 5:20 PM ^
Mallet would probably still be here.
January 1st, 2011 at 5:37 PM ^
You don't think that if we had hired a coach that ran a pro-style offense that Mallet would not have tranferred? I am not advocating for the hire of Brady Hoke, I am just saying.

MadtownMaize,
Not that this argument is even worth having anymore, but I knew Mallett during his time in Ann Arbor. You are absolutely wrong. Stop spewing this nonsense.
January 1st, 2011 at 7:41 PM ^
Dear Braylon Edwards Blunt-
Madtown Maize may not always be correct, but Madtown Maize does not spew. Thanks-MtM
January 2nd, 2011 at 12:53 PM ^
I'm genuinely curious.......did you just make up the, "Once Mustain left, Mallett was already out the door" line? Because this has no basis in reality whatsoever.
January 2nd, 2011 at 5:41 PM ^
that I read it here. I also read many other things, such as; Mallett wouldn't even talk to RR. Mallett was not liked by his teammates. I have seen Mallett quoted as saying that he is now at the place he should have been all along. In all honesty, I don't really care. Mallett is a Razorback, and I have followed and cheered for him in the same way I have McGuffie.
Without trying to sound like an a-hole; since he is your buddy why don't you tell the board what really happaned?
Thanks again,
MtM

It is by no means "proof" that I am correct, only proof that I didn't make this up.

Today proves that we need a change - not at DC, but at the head coaching position. Let this sink in - worst bowl loss in Michigan history. We have had far too may firsts in the last three years. I believe that RR is a great coach, but for whatever reason he is just plain not being successful here.
I am hearing (and hope its true) that JH is a done deal. If not, I am totally open to Brady Hoke.
January 1st, 2011 at 6:20 PM ^
Hoke is now a viable option.
January 1st, 2011 at 5:07 PM ^
that sucked. I posted in the past about my connections to both schools. I knew going in it would be like watching my sister and wife box. I had to root for my wife (MState - my current employer and most recent degree grantor) over my sister (the team I grew up following). My hope was that it would be close, clean, and no one would get hurt. I am just sad after watching the maize and blue get it handed to them like that.

as i have stated in another thread ......... there is nothing good about both (elite) MICHIGAN football progams getting thier azzzzzzzzz kicked
January 1st, 2011 at 6:09 PM ^
I don't take pride in it. I'm just glad it happened so that I don't have to hear anything from them about this game. I'm now hoping for the same with OSU and Wisc.
January 1st, 2011 at 5:09 PM ^
I built up a lot of anticipation waiting o get back to a bowl game, and i was hoping with the time off to prepare we wouldn't look as bad as we did. Losing didn't hurt as much as getting embarrassed and looking like we had packed it in as soon as we got down. If Rich does leave I wish we could have sent him out better.
January 1st, 2011 at 5:39 PM ^
I agree. I'm sure most of the players like RR. But they also seemed like they wanted to go home.
