Eh, MSU is going to be killed by ND next week. We won, but we were lucky. I watched MSU today, and they are not nearly as good as UM right now.

We were not just lucky. UM made a bunch of great plays to WIN the game.

I think UM played good enough to win, but they also lucked out that Weiss had such horrible play calls on that last series which allowed UM to keep its timeouts. Listen, there is nothing wrong with some "luck" - good teams generate the breaks when they play well. But if ND forces UM to burn one or two more timeouts, then Tate is moving down the field with 1 TO and some less-than-great WRs. Not saying that Tate would not have done it, but the degree of difficulty would have been higher.
I'm fine winning on some "luck" - good teams tend to at least once or twice a season. ND's offensive line was pushing UM around in the running game, Minor was intermittently out, and there were at least two big drops by Floyd. UM won, but those breaks needed to happen for them to win.

Now that you mention it, that sets up a very interesting game next week. This was the one they hyped up that both teams needed to have a good season; next week, they're both going to need it in order to avoid a bad one. The loser is going to be in bad shape.

Mark May is rubbing it in Lou Holtz's face. Love ya, MM!

I think MSU needs the win next week more than Notre Dame. Notre Dame has an easy schedule remaining outside of USC. Michigan State has the tougher schedule

I think that if ND loses next week to MSU, fat charlie is done. i hope ND wins so that we can see Jabba next year.

Oh yeah...that's going to be sweet!

I do wish the ESPN guys stopped dumping on ND right now - UM played well enough to win. I don't like ND, but they got beat by an absolutely transcendent performance by a freshman playing at home. They are still a good team, and I could totally seeing them go 10-2 and playing in a BCS game.
Ah, I just threw up in my mouth a bit.

Looks like no NC for ND.

Notre Dame isn't exactly going to be doing cartwheels, either. The game is in South Bend, right? I'd expect ND to beat MSU like a bass drum.

It assumes that Team X wouldn't be trying otherwise.
Now I'll give you that a PO'd team won't be looking beyond its next opponent. But I doubt MSU would have lolligaged into South Bend next week if only it had won today.
