Possible walk on kicker

This was already in the Goudis decommit thread, but it warrants a thread of its own. Hope he's he can solve our kicking problems! Sounds like a neat kid and player and I wish him well if this is in fact true.

I don't like the whining about losing 2 star recruits. Also, our current kicking woes look more like the yips. Couldn't our psychology department help out with this?

...as you and I are addicted to UM Football and athletics, I'd like the think the psychology department has other work to do. However, if they are bored...I know a couple kids named Seth and Brendan who could use some tutoring.

A couple of them have to want to specialize in sports psychology. "Close your eyes and visualize two goal posts. Aim for the middle. Adust for wind. See the ball go through the middle" Should be easy.

While looking at kickers on Rivals, they are all listed as 2 stars. Can anyone shed some light on why they are all only 2 stars?

He's not from around here.

I think Rivals have realized that it's such a crapshoot predicting the success of a kicker that it's basically pointless.

and how bout one or two more for good measure to assure we get a kicker who understands the idea of "between"

He's only a RS Freshman and Cornblue, I believe, has said it takes a HS kicker 2 years to get used to kicking the ball off the ground.
Would love to know if anyone has any statistics on recent BSC kickers and what class they are in. Got to believe that like many other positions it is unusual for a underclassman to excel early on.
I'm not saying we shouldn't be looking to add another kicker, just that Gibbons still could surprise us.

Great contract negotiatior:
Mitchell, who had numerous scholarship offers coming out of high school, had the minor league contract structured in such a way that if he was unhappy at the end of the contract the Phillies would be responsible for his college tuition.

If we don't get Goudis back, I'm sure there will be someone in the fold. Even if it's Gus the field goal kicking mule....
January 16th, 2011 at 6:28 PM ^
...when I was a kid. Trivia snippet: Gus was Bob Crane's last movie appearance prior to his infamous murder.

Don't get too excited. I talked to his dad, I'll include it in the weekly update tomorrow.
January 16th, 2011 at 4:50 PM ^
How can we not be excited knowing that there will be a TomVH update tomorrow?
January 16th, 2011 at 4:55 PM ^
No kidding! TomVH just made tomorrow a good day. Hope for good news about some prospects.

That Does not sound like good news. We rely on you bringing the good news.

Tend to agree with Tom here (dont get too excited). Check the guy's stats for last season and they look to me like he'll be starting the year in double A ball as opposed to Ann Arbor. The Phils dont have much invested in him anyway so i'm sure they'd still like to see what he can do.

It's pretty sad that we're left hoping for a 24 year old kicker to come back to football and save our special teams
January 16th, 2011 at 5:17 PM ^
Ohio State's kicker is in his mid-20's....
January 16th, 2011 at 5:48 PM ^
commericial. Does he still have any eligibility left?
"Thats amazing!" "Yeah, they usually go for two."
