Possible new fight song "Hail and Unite."

Submitted by uofmdds96 on

"Central Student Government has been presented a resolution to develop an additional thematic fight song to be played at University athletic events."

"This project is meant to be, number one, extremely unique."

They are going to reach out to get Eminem involved.

I, for one, cannot wait to see what the lyrics to this will include.  I don't see Eminem being much of a uniter.

EDIT: I am in NO WAY in favor of this.

No thanks. Michigan has another fight song that is ignored. Varsity. It was Michigan's fight song that they used when they left the B1G after 1906. The Victors returned when Michigan re-joined the Western Conference in 1917.

It's no wonder virtually no one knows Varsity. The band only plays it once per game. I really think it should be rotated into the games, maybe replace a couple of the 3 dozen iterations of Let's Go Blue that are played each game. At least the basketball band has started playing the ending ("we have no fear for you...") this year. Small steps...

I thought this was parody at first.  Why would they seek out Eminem rather than one of the many, many, successful musicians who actually attended Michigan?

"In addition to discussion of the resolution, the meeting also included an interactive presentation on reacting to an active shooter."

NOT A COINCIDENCE

This sounds like quite possibly the worst idea I've ever heard. This is one instance where tradition is not to be messed with. I'd rather not have my university associate itself with an individual whose songs are at times contentious and violent. The Victors is regarded as one of the greatest fight songs for a reason.

Hail to the Victors is generally considered by most unbiased observers (and even some biased ones) to be the very best fight song out there. Why would we want another?
