Possible Michigan Secondary

Submitted by BKFinest on

With Woolfolk seemingly done unfortunately, RR may have to seriously improvise in the secondary.

CB1: Floyd

CB2: Cullen

CB3: Avery

Wouldn't be shocked to see one of the Safeties get some reps as CB - namely, Cam or Vlad. Hopefully this lights a fire under Floyd and Buck, and we get surprised. But man, losing Troy could be devastating. Still hopeful about Buck & JT.

Not to be the guy to talk about "what could have been..." but man, what could have been:

Donovan Warren, Boubacar Cissoko, JT Turner, Demar Dorsey, Troy Woolfolk.

Take Woolfolk off that list. Buck (Cullen) will grow immeasurably this year through this experience. He's looked sharp in camp from various reports, he's confident, poised and mature for being a freshman. The one knock on him is his speed, but his coverage skills are unquestioned, and a 3-3-5 can help mask some of his speed deficiencies...hopefuly. What scares me more is JT Floyd, although RR has been raving about him all camp.

Is fast. Remember him chasing Roy in the Spring Game on the long TD catch, and he came outta nowhere and looked fast as hell. Believe in GERG.

But our secondary was gonna be bad this year anyway.  i feel bad for him (Woolfolk) and hope he doesn't miss the season, but everyone knew all it was gonna take was one injury and we were hurting.  At least this way, whoever replaces him has time to get some experience, sooner rather than later.  Just trying to be positive.

Crap, who am I kidding.  I'm gonna start drinking heavily...

What?  It's 1 am here, I'm allowed...

how is it we are so short on CBs ... lack of interest from CBs, not enough focus on signing more ... seems like we needed about 10 in the past 2 classes.  Hopefully the DL can play over their heads this year.

These incoming Freshmen will just need to step up and seize the position. I am sorry, but this kind of stuff happens. It is not like we haven;t been thin before and still found a way to win.

Not the past two years, but we have done it before that. I like th eidea of having a few wide receivers back there, they for sure can intercept the ball well

This can be a positive for the future.  If it is true Wolf has a dislocated ankle and is donions for the season, that means that Culen will most certainly start, and get important experience early on.  The kid was a top 10 corner recruit, and doesn't seem like he has the personality to implode his life like BC.  Who knows, maybe he'll be a tremendous asset this year, and Wolf maybe gets a medical redshirt and comes back next season.

Anyone want to go stand in the quad at USC with a sign saying "Need a cornerback/safety.  Will play for food, educations, housing and whatever?"

Seriously, any chance we could a get late transfer from USC with immediate eligibility for either cornerback or safety.  Stranger things have happened in A2 this year, or probably will.
