Possible Michigan Secondary
With Woolfolk seemingly done unfortunately, RR may have to seriously improvise in the secondary.
CB1: Floyd
CB2: Cullen
CB3: Avery
Wouldn't be shocked to see one of the Safeties get some reps as CB - namely, Cam or Vlad. Hopefully this lights a fire under Floyd and Buck, and we get surprised. But man, losing Troy could be devastating. Still hopeful about Buck & JT.

I would add him in there.
August 17th, 2010 at 7:10 PM ^
is going to have to move back over. He showed speed making up ground on Roundtree in the spring game and has had reps at CB.

JT. Floyd, RS So
Cullen Christian, Fr
Courtney Avery, Fr
James Rogers, Sr
Tony Anderson, RS Jr
Terrence Talbott, Fr
And here are some "other position" wild cards to consider/discuss for playing CB:
Could be possible:
Terrence Robinson, RS So, SR
Jeremy Gallon, RS So, SR
Kelvin Grady, RS Jr, SR
Teric Jones, So, S
Je'Ron Stokes, So, WR
Jerald Robinson, Fr, WR
DJ Williamson, Fr, WR
Josh Furman, Fr, S
Drew Dileo, Fr, SR
Unlikely approaching infinity:
Carvin Johnson, Fr, S
Marvin Robinson, Fr, S
Brandin Hawthorne, So, S
Jeremey Jackson, Fr, WR
Austin White, Fr, RB
Double NFW infinity........
Vincent Smith, So, RB
Denard Robinson, So, QB

Not to be the guy to talk about "what could have been..." but man, what could have been:
Donovan Warren, Boubacar Cissoko, JT Turner, Demar Dorsey, Troy Woolfolk.
August 17th, 2010 at 7:10 PM ^
Only two of those guys (Warren and Woolfork) have ever actually made a positive impact in a college uniform.
August 17th, 2010 at 7:19 PM ^
at least at Michigan. A couple guys named Woolfolk have though....
August 17th, 2010 at 7:23 PM ^
Ugh. I would never have made that mistake without hearing it said wrong a million times every game.
August 17th, 2010 at 7:31 PM ^
I was more looking at the potential, if stars had aligned. If only.
I guess I wasn't feeling depressed enough with Woolfolk's injury. I think I'll -1 my own post.

Take Woolfolk off that list. Buck (Cullen) will grow immeasurably this year through this experience. He's looked sharp in camp from various reports, he's confident, poised and mature for being a freshman. The one knock on him is his speed, but his coverage skills are unquestioned, and a 3-3-5 can help mask some of his speed deficiencies...hopefuly. What scares me more is JT Floyd, although RR has been raving about him all camp.

Triple Cover Michael Floyd WOOOOOOOO
August 17th, 2010 at 6:45 PM ^
James Rogers and Teric Jones have to get a shot before a safety gets moved over.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:54 PM ^
guy?

Maybe he's OK? Is he a walk-on?
August 17th, 2010 at 7:22 PM ^
was a sprinter in high school, so he's pretty fast. He ran a 10.91 100m in high school, so there's that.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:45 PM ^
So much for not drinking before the UCONN Game..........
August 17th, 2010 at 6:48 PM ^
Is fast. Remember him chasing Roy in the Spring Game on the long TD catch, and he came outta nowhere and looked fast as hell. Believe in GERG.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:50 PM ^
Teric Jones will definitely be getting playing time. I was rooting for him to be good, but uh... at running back... not CB.
August 17th, 2010 at 6:55 PM ^
But our secondary was gonna be bad this year anyway. i feel bad for him (Woolfolk) and hope he doesn't miss the season, but everyone knew all it was gonna take was one injury and we were hurting. At least this way, whoever replaces him has time to get some experience, sooner rather than later. Just trying to be positive.
Crap, who am I kidding. I'm gonna start drinking heavily...
What? It's 1 am here, I'm allowed...
August 17th, 2010 at 6:57 PM ^
Denard.....for reals I'm serious...I think we have to play Denard at corner....
August 17th, 2010 at 7:02 PM ^
uh...no.
August 17th, 2010 at 7:04 PM ^
Mike Williams?
August 17th, 2010 at 7:09 PM ^
playing time is what you wanted...playing time is what you'll receive.
August 17th, 2010 at 7:10 PM ^
denard at cb?!
August 17th, 2010 at 7:12 PM ^
how is it we are so short on CBs ... lack of interest from CBs, not enough focus on signing more ... seems like we needed about 10 in the past 2 classes. Hopefully the DL can play over their heads this year.
August 17th, 2010 at 7:12 PM ^
teric moved back to corner last week.
August 17th, 2010 at 7:17 PM ^
or maybe Mike Martin.
August 17th, 2010 at 7:43 PM ^
Brilliant! Martin could jam them at the line the whole time!
August 17th, 2010 at 7:46 PM ^
Perry Dorrestein. CB is a lot like WR, right?
August 17th, 2010 at 7:23 PM ^
August 17th, 2010 at 7:38 PM ^
we'll be blitzing on every down and hope for the best?
August 17th, 2010 at 7:39 PM ^
Witty could have been here also..just bad luck right now with the CB situation
August 17th, 2010 at 7:42 PM ^
These incoming Freshmen will just need to step up and seize the position. I am sorry, but this kind of stuff happens. It is not like we haven;t been thin before and still found a way to win.
Not the past two years, but we have done it before that. I like th eidea of having a few wide receivers back there, they for sure can intercept the ball well
August 17th, 2010 at 7:59 PM ^
Yeah they never drop balls right... oh wait a second.
August 17th, 2010 at 7:52 PM ^
None of the safeties will move- Cam and Vlad are way too big and stiff, and Mike Williams.. well.
August 17th, 2010 at 8:12 PM ^
This can be a positive for the future. If it is true Wolf has a dislocated ankle and is donions for the season, that means that Culen will most certainly start, and get important experience early on. The kid was a top 10 corner recruit, and doesn't seem like he has the personality to implode his life like BC. Who knows, maybe he'll be a tremendous asset this year, and Wolf maybe gets a medical redshirt and comes back next season.

August 17th, 2010 at 8:24 PM ^
but this thread title definitely made me think secondary violations...
Come back next year stronger thanever please Troy.
August 17th, 2010 at 8:26 PM ^
Well, no matter what, it is tough to envision a secondary worse than last year's secondary.
August 17th, 2010 at 8:31 PM ^
Anyone want to go stand in the quad at USC with a sign saying "Need a cornerback/safety. Will play for food, educations, housing and whatever?"
Seriously, any chance we could a get late transfer from USC with immediate eligibility for either cornerback or safety. Stranger things have happened in A2 this year, or probably will.
