Possible Cissoko Comeback?

Cissoko can still develop into a decent to good corner, and if nothing else, could provide us with some experience going into next year

Sorry about the double post above...I had tried to post it earlier, but forgot to choose the select down MGoBoard, so you beat me by a few seconds. I hope he can work his way back and become more mature.

comes back, both for the program and for himself. It sounds like he could benefit immensely from hitting both the books and the field hard next year and earning a degree from U of M. The fact that it would also happen to add depth to our defensive backfield would be some flavorful icing.

depth at the corner position, especially with Warrens status up in the air, would be most welcome. Come on Boo Boo, get it together and lets get back on track. Your dream of being a star at UM isn't dead yet!

If Cissoko does come back, I hope he makes the most of his second chance. He showed a lot of potential as a freshman. I hope his experience as a sophomore has served as a "wake-up call" that helps him set better priorities.

I'd love to see him back. He was only sophmore last year and has lots of potential. At the very least I think he can still develop into a decent college nickle back.

We hear about players rededicating themselves and turning things around. I'm sure plenty of players were in Bo's doghouse for academics, but since they did not have blogs and forms, that stuff did not get out much. Brian Griese had his own off-field issues and came back to QB us to a national title. Why can't he have his own comeback story?

Wilcher said Rodriguez should be applauded for at least giving Cissoko an opportunity to potentially rejoin the team. "I think the most important thing is that Rich Rodriguez has opened up the door to the thought of letting the kid entertain the thought of working his way back," said Wilcher, who played running back for Michigan from 1983-86. "That should be focused on -- how Rich Rodriguez is not going to turn his back, and at least lets you try to crawl back and prove you can get back by going through the proper procedures."
I like this guy. I like DB's.. talented ones. So bring em' back. Come on boo-boo!

I think that means we can take one less recruit, as we're bumping against the 85 man limit. Unless he returns without a scholarship? As much as I want him back, I wouldn't give him a spot at the cost of one of our better defensive recruits.

but I don't think that is accurate. I believe we are currently at a scholarship deficit and even with a full class we will still be below the 85 for this year. This is just my understanding from all the discussion I have heard here, nothing concrete though. Perhaps someone more with more knowledge can verify this.

I'm quite certain that a class of 28 will put us at the 85 limit. In fact, I think we technically only have 27 to give, but we're banking on either Smith leaving, or a 5th year to not get invited back. You're right that we're at a scholarship deficit, but that deficit will likely be erased by the end of this recruiting cycle as we'll be adding a lot more recruits than we lose seniors.

Cissoko's re-instatement if it were to happen, would sure put a damper on those who complain about Rich Rod's lack of family values. It also sends a very positive message to high school coaches in the state that Rich and his staff are interested in recruiting and keeping instate recruits. All we need now is for Cissoko to hit the books and work his butt off to get re-instated. Hope it happens.
