According to tremendous, we may be getting a 2013 commit tomorrow. They do stress the word "Might" but it's exciting none the less. Keep up the good work, Tremendous!

To throw a bit of speculation out there, I think it could be Laquon Treadwell, who seemed on the verge of committing a couple months back.

I honestly don't think Thompson has a UM offer, and apparently he was very close to committing to West Virginia a couple weeks ago. They would be my guess.

I won't be doing a happy dance if he commits here nor will I be pouting if he doesn't. He seems like a solid enough player with decent measurables but he doesn't seem to be a game changer (from the little I've seen on him). If he's all in then I'm on board but I don't forsee a meltdown if things don't pan out for us.

If the depth chart by class is correct and I've counted correctly we have 82 scholarship players for this season. I'll assume Brink lands one and that we grab Diamond or Kozan so call it 84 players on scholarship. With 16 seniors, that puts us at 17 available.

With regular attrition, let's call it a class of 22 for now.

Looks like its gonna be another "get your spot now or you will lose out" year. Depending on how many schollies we bank from 2012 class, how many can we take in 2013? 20?

247 shows that he took four unofficial visits, with three being to UM and the other to WV. It says he reported receiving a verbal offer on his second visit to UM. Couldn't find much info on him, but I'm liking his size.

Know him personally and it's consensus that he will be a 4*. Hell his first year starting he was an All-TRAC safety.

People questioning his speed should watch his tape, his physicalitiy at the line and his hitting power make up for it for sure.

IMO, he is committing so early because he really came out of nowhere and just wants to get the process done. This is a guy who was playing JV as a sophmore and not starting ANYWHERE, and since he transferred he has became an elite player.  This is why his offer list is limited. We are getting a steal if he commits. His stock will skyrocket throughout the next year.   Sky is the limit for this kid.

BTW he has visited M way more than any of the other places. I think he is Blue all the way. Around Toledo it seems like he definitely is on his way to AA.

Can you talk more about this?

1, What was the deal with him not playing Varsity as a Sophomore? Was he physically underdeveloped at the time? Was his team stacked?

2. That's a fast transformation to becoming an elite player...what sort of effect did the transfer have on his transformation? Was he playing weaker competition? Did it have no effect, just an opportunity?

If you know this kid personally, I'd like to learn more about him.

But coming out of nowhere, and wanting to get his recruiting done quickly don't make much sense with me.  If he did, as you say, come out of nowhere, bursting onto the scene, it would make more sense to slow evertyhing down...  Why be in a hurry?

Oh well, we'll all know soon eough.

The way i see it is, him coming out of nowhere to being in a national spotlight, he sees how blessed he is to be in this situation and making a decision early is what he sees best in order to make the next step to make his dream come true.

Just trust me on this one guys, he will get the Sione Houma effect on his rankings and he will emerge as a top player out of Ohio. He will be an All-state DB.

I know, I know, would you like to pursue taking over for Fred Jackson...

None of the sites have him with an offer. And further, I questioned the offer earlier in the thread because he had been talking about committing around Christmas between the same finalists and some of the paysite mods said that he didn't have an M offer. Seems like the paysite people are saying the same thing now.

Thompson is the only one who says he has a Michigan offer. And then the lifelong Michigan fan commits to West Virginia...See where I'm going with this...It's not unheard of for kids to misinterpret what offers they have since they're all verbal or in some cases just fabricate offers out of nowhere. Know of at least one 2012 kid who claimed an M offer that Rivals outed as making up stories.

I was looking forward to a day off of recruiting (as evidenced by the fact that the first thing I did here at 5:45am is check the board - uggh!) and here I am sucked in again already.  Sometimes I think I'd be better off if this board didn't exist - of course, that would be until it actually didn't, then I'd be in a panic!  Well, here we go again!  TomVH got me into this and left me standing here.  Damn you, Tommy!
