There's no way to say he "definitely is" the guy. He could be, in fact I want him to be and I think he's the most talented back on our roster, but without the privilege of seeing all the backs perform in fall camp there's really no way to know. Hopefully he can get out there and play really well, but DJ or Green or DS could all lay claim to the starting spot as well. I just hope one of them is actually good and we don't have to go by committee again.

It would be nothing short of awesome if all 4 of these running backs live up to their HS star ratings, however, most of that will depend on the OL's ability to function like a cohesive unit.  If so, LOOK OUT!

I just hope whoever is deemed 'the guy', they can quickly identify the correct hole (twss) and pick up a doggone blitz.

I wasn't trying to make an assessment of their ability to run the ball, which would be very difficult from one still shot, but make an assessment of their general body composition. When I said Smith was looked like a beast, I meant it looks like he has put a lot of work in the gym. Green may have been putting out the same effort, but the results look far different. It seems Green has been struggling to identify and hit his ideal weight since he has been at Michigan and Smith has alway seemed one step ahead of him in conditioning. Based on the media day pictures, that trend seems to be continuing.  And yes, I am sure that Green could crush me. I was not comparing his conditioning to mine, but to the other members of the team, specifically  Smith, who looks physically ready to assume the bulk of the carries.

Then Bo would throw bomb ... My dream is some future star catches ... the bomb this year for a TD. That would mean that my team is back. I'd take a Championship to boot.

Break the post into stanzas and it kind of makes sense as poetry, though it seemingly has little to do with Ty Issac.

"The Bomb...Back?" by Blue Day

Back in the day,

We would pound the rock,

Then Bo would

             throw the bomb.

My dream is,

Some future star catches,

The bomb this year

              for a TD.

That would mean

That my team is back.

I'd take a Championship

                to boot.

This board's seeming unanimous indiference towards Ty seems  to suggest he's not going to be a factor. Probably sounds stupid, but when this board collecitvely believes something it usually turns out true. Can't recall an instance that disproves this off the top of my head.

Couldnt be further from the truth. Isaac will carry us to 10 wins. He is heads and shoulders better than all our other backs and he fits the mold that HRbaugh likes! 1200 yards and 16 TDs, bank it! This board rarely has an accurate view. They all just agree with whoever had the most points and it turns into a mob mentality. Blind following the blind!

Wow, that's a strange amount of confidence in a guy who was in Harbaugh's doghouse this spring.

Toby Gerhart had 28 touchdowns in 2009, but otherwise, the leading touchdown scorers for Stanford had 8, 15, and 15 rushing touchdowns. I doubt that a guy coming out of the doghouse will get enough chances to gain 1,200 yards or score 16 touchdowns.

I find your overinflated ego coupled with your lack of actual football knowledge hilarious.  Your avatar also fits you perfectly.  I can't tell if you are a troll or if you actually are this crazy.  Maybe both.  One thing is certain: this is the first time I've ever upvoted someone who is so blatantly ignorant of the situation and it will probably be the only time.  I tip my cap to you good sir.

Magnus, I usually agree with your assessments of players and situations, but I think you're wrong about this "dog-house" business. He had a hammy inury in the spring. That will limit everything under the sun when it comes to football. I don't think, however "quirky" Harbaugh is, that he would fault a guy's motivation simply because he's injured. You can't really demonstrate too much of any of your abilities with an injury that hampers everything about your job. Nonetheless, you may have some inside information that we're all missing. Was it an attitude thing?

I'm wondering the same thing. He left USC as a highly recruited back to come sit a year at Michigan so he could play for us, that wouldn't put him in any doghouse as far as I can see.

I highly highly doubt Harbaugh would hold a grudge from his Stanford days and him being at USC .
