POSBANG: EMU has an active winning streak!

Submitted by crg on
EMU takes down Wyoming at home and now owns a 3-1 record (to hell with Notre Dame at 1-2) and A TWO GAME WINNING STREAK. To be fair, they might not win again this season but good for them.

The next 4 --- they will likely be double-digit underdogs in all. Hosting Toledo and road trips to BGSU, Ohio and Western.

But then they host Miami University, which is not good.  That's 4.

At Ball State is probably a loss.

Host Northern Illinois.  NIU is not typical NIU this year, and lost to Wyoming themselves earlier this year (admittedly in Laramie).  This could be 5.

So, 5-6 for the season finale at home vs. CMU.  Central is good, but if it's a home game against a rival of sorts with Bowl eligiblity on the line, they likely play with an inspired effort.

I'll be rooting for them.

On one hand, Wyoming really did have one of those slow, simmering meltdowns that eventually became a full case of explosive diarrhea on the bed in the final few series.

On the other hand, I believe they said that Eastern Michigan last had this sort of start going into conference play 21 years ago, so good on them.

I don't think EMU should ever be bad. Ok, maybe not good or even decent but never such a trash program that they win 0-1 games a year for a decade and debate leaving FBS.

I didn't explain why. They're near Detroit and Toledo. They should get enough kids that aren't good enough for P5, really want to stay home or have personal issues that keep them our of better schools. I hate to say it but if I'm named the EMU HC the first thing I do is REALLY hit the Juco market and focus on kods with academic/attitude issues. Boise was built that way, KSU lives off of thag model. The only thing you have to do is be the kind of guy each kid needs, be that a father figure, best buddy type or a hardass. My point is that nobody can "build" EMU as it stands. Forget recruiting actual kids that others want (lol). I think every team needs a few misfit toys but I'd make a team of them at EMU until we did enough to be taken seriously.

Their whole stadium/facilities are seriously lacking even for the MAC. Maybe it is just the atmosphere, but it was sad last time I went to a game there. However, I get your point. Proximity to Detroit and Ann Arbor should be selling points too. Ypsi just can't look good on a visit.

I remember breaking into the stadium, then locker rooms, in high school and stealing jerseys and warm ups.

I was a dick when I was a 15 year old. That being said I think I still have a "Hurons" women's softball jersey somewhere

I'm surprised at how rough Craig Bohl's stretch has been at Wyoming so far. I thought given his track record at NDSU, he would do some really good things at Wyoming. I guess there is still time, but they have not been a good team so far.

I've often thought there's a lot more to recruiting and building a team than we understand. Bohl left NDSU and they are still winning! Now the question is, does NDSU have the fire power to compete week in and week out in D1, that's debatable. Motivation is highly overlooked in these types of programs. At NDSU, I'm sure they recruited a lot of undersized athletes that weren't "big" enough for D1. Bohl played that up. I think it's similar to what Hoke and staff did at Miami, "the Power 5 schools overlooked you!" They soon found they couldn't implore the same tactics at Michigan. I think Bohl needs more time. I think he has a much better shot of turning things around at WYO than Hoke ever did at Miami.
