Coaches - #23
AP - #21
I'm hoping the polls come out tonight after the Miami/FSU game.
NR!! but a few more votes.
NR for sure and I think ESPN said the polls come out tomorrow.
Let's not rush this.....it will all work itself out in time.....votes, yeah, votes are good, yeah.
No way we're rated and I believe they come out tomorrow sometime
Other random poll thoughts -
OSU drops to about number 10
My guess has OSU one or two spots past this, pending how far OU drops. I also wouldn't be surprised if ND was as high as 15, although I think they'll go around 17-18.
BSU too high. BYU has to be in there.
Yeah, I tried to guess what the AP would do, not what I thought was right. Boise was higher rated and took care of business in convincing fashion. Same with LSU. BYU would have to jump quite a few teams the AP already had ranked higher.
i dont think BYU will skyrocket just yet. i think they'll end up in the 10-13 range. same with boise state
osu will stay where they are b/c you don't see too many top 10 teams move too far down after week 1; even if it was a close win. Okla and va tech will move somewhere in the teens and I think nd moves up to like 21 while miami moves into the top 25 to replace fla state. We might get a vote or two but I think there are other schools that might get votes before us. Besides I'd like to sneak up on folks.
Are you serious? Michigan will not not be ranked until we get to 4-0 or 5-0. Voters will punish us for last year's debacle. Beat ND and MSU, and we'll be ranked. Not sure why people care if we're ranked or not; it's not like we're in the fight for the BCS championship. Rankings are pointless otherwise.
I don't think we will be ranked this next week, Western Was Never Ranked, nor a top 50 team.
I think one thing that helps us is all the media attention this week, as well as the post game attention.
It seems like many UR teams that got points lost, or did terrible.
I think it is safe to say that the pollsters are not going to pay any attention to last year. This is a poll for "this year."
I think it is safe to say that the pollsters are not going to pay any attention to last year.
I actually disagree. It's not just last year's dismal year, but everything else going on with the media. The AP poll is more a perception poll than it is a researched ranking. We still have freshmen qbs, many of which the AP poll voters probably haven't seen play yet.
I've always believed the AP poll is all about the current hype, so the voters will hype teams up, especially when they see a complete turn around and know we played 2 frosh QB with outstanding results. After all, they love a feel-good story!
Polls don't mean much unless were going for the NC. You are being a tad pessimistic though. If we beat ND we are in the Top 25
Funny?I would think at this point every team is in a fight for the BCS championship.
I think M will definately be ranked if they beat ND. If we somehowe win convincingly, there is no doubt we will be ranked. ND looked really good this week, so I think a W gets us in the top 25.
As far as I'm concernd until we loose we're in the BCS fight.
Although we Michigan fans are very optimistic right now, the AP and the coaches won't get us there till we win our first conference game and all the games leading up to it. I bet we do double our votes in the AP to about 14 and get a couple more in the coaches to about 3-4 though.
If we open 4-0 we will probably undeservedly break into the top 15 or so. It may not be deserved, but I'll take it. We will crack the top 25 WHEN we leave Rudy squeelin' from the feelin'. The better Michigan does in conference will only fuel the flames that the Big Ten is a weak conference if a team that went 3-9 can do well the next year with a freshman qb. It will take a solid bowl record this year and nothing else for our conference to get any respect. That being said, it will happen including our upset win over Florida in the MNC. One can dream...
I actually think if we got 2-0, we will crack the top 25. We'll be playing a team that will probably be in the top 15-20 range, which may be enough, especially with some of the losses on the current poll's fringe 25.
But that means we need to take care of things this weekend.
Yes, but only if we blow them out. If it is a close call, I still think we'll stay out of the polls.
If Michigan goes out and beats ND, a top 20 team, we could crack the top 25, or close to it. If the voters are looking at last years 3-9 record as part of their reasoning, those same voters might also consider Coach Rods year 1 to year 2 progress with his previous teams. I'm just sayin.
The poll people should put us in the top 20 anyone who watched the game will put us in the top 20
Michigan will not be ranked. Here are my predictions for the back of the poll (lol, 'back of the poll'), shuffle:
The winner of this game Monday night between FSU and Miami will be in the next poll. The loser out.
Iowa will fall out of the poll.
Miami has a chance for a sudden appearance in the poll.
Cincy is another one. They had 90 points in the coaches poll (165 points is #25 Oregon State). Presumably, they will climb in some of those ballots. And, Rutgers had votes for 55 points, perhaps some of those ballots either now put Cincy on them or elevate where they Cincy to start.
To sum: Michigan still out. Iowa out. Cincy in. Winner tonight in. Loser tonight out. Notre Dame climbs into the top 17 in both polls.
We received no votes in the AP Poll and were like the last person to get any votes in the Coaches Poll (where we received one vote, probably our own). Don't over-hype this. To paraphrase RR, we will break into the top 25 when we deserve to break into the top 25. It will not be this week.
I have theorized all along that Cubit gave us a #25 vote. You know the whole pump up your next opponenent tactic. Of course, I dont even know if he has a vote. Next time, maybe I'll do some research before posting.
But I wont let facts get in the way of opinion. I am sure he voted for us 25 and he will move us up. Maybe 20h, so we'll at least quintuple our poll points this week. If Weis pulls a 'Cubit' hell we'll crack double digit points. Book It.
That could be. I didn't think of that. I still like to think it was RR.
If we beat ND by a decent score, I'm 100% positive we'll be in the top 25, probably near the end, but in it nonetheless. If we make it to 5-0 we'll be in the top 15.
Although the recognition by votes would be nice, any ranking right now would be about as useful as a broken weener. As excited as I am right now after Saturday's game. I am constantly reminding myself that the ND game will shed much more light on the state of the reemergence of the Wolverines. 4-0 and 5-0 talk is great, and how great it would be, but let's continue to crawl before we walk. This week is a big one, and the anticipation will be great. The Big House, she is gonna be a ROCKIN'!
OUCH!!! Don't even say that.
More important for our rep would be ND moving closer to the top 15. We need to beat highly rated teams get quality recognition.
Beat ND, Indiana, Iowa and MSU then WE WILL be ranked till then no way. ND is the pivitol win for Michigan.
