Poll - favorite opponent for Michigan to play in a Big 10 championship game
Consider a fantasy scenario, where Michigan has a pretty good football team and wins its division in the Big 10, and in doing so has won the MSU and OSU games during the regular season. Which team would like to see Michigan play in the Big 10 championship game?
1) OSU
2) MSU
3) PSU
4) Nebraska
5) Iowa
6) Notre Dame
7) some other team in the big 10 as we know it.
8) some other team not in the big 10 as we know it.

Kicking OSU ass 2 times in 1 year would be best case scenario

1 without question.
Then 2,3,6

3. Because we killed OSU and MSU in our division.

OSU for sure, Nebraska would be a great match-up too.

Please, don't give in to the M-OSU separate divisions theory yet. There's still time for the Big Ten to do the responsible thing.

Any way to widen the 14 game lead we have on those poop cooler filling monsters from Columbus.

Minnesota. So that the Big Ten championship trophy would be only the second-most relevant trophy awarded at the end of the game.

8. Syracuse
Which will happen in 2013 with a National Championship berth on the line. Book it.

1) OSU
2) Nebraska
3) PSU
4) Iowa
5) Wisconsin
11) MSU (I don't want little brother to be in the running. Also, we seem to be saddled with MSU in our division, so not likely.)

I would say Ohio State obviously to knock them out of a BCS bowl. Also since i live in Pennsylvania in would be nice to play and beat Penn State so i can bask in the glory while everyone else is throwing things at their tvs.

How about a highly ranked Ohio State team that loses to us in spectacular fashion?
Yes please.

Ohio State. No need to worry about MSU, because it'll be a cold day in hell when they make it to the Big 10 title game.

so if it's ohio state, then that's assuming they won't be in the same division and playing for a second time. this bothers me so much because when the second game is played, then presumably that version of The Game is more important than The Game that happened earlier in the season. am i the only one who has a problem with saying that one version of The Game is more important than another? every Game has as much importance as the others. what's going on outside the program, whether it's records, off-field stuff, etc. every game has to be viewed as important as every other one. however, a re-match would lead to the perception that the first one wasn't as important, and that really grinds my gears.
that being said, i'd vote for MSU because although it is a strong rivalry, i think that is the type of rivalry that would be good to see twice.

how about whichever team beat michigan earlier in the year? that would be a nice revenge huh?
August 23rd, 2010 at 11:57 AM ^
I'd rather we not lose earlier in the year.

i agree. but gotta be realistic sometimes :(

Because it would mean we've made them bow down and join. And it would be a great match-up.
But after that, some Nebraska hate. That would be solid. (Had my fill of PSU). And it would mean that OSU is in our division where they should be.

I still want OSU and Michigan to be in the same division with their game being the last game of the regular season, as it has been since before I was born. When Michigan becomes elite again, which I think will start this year and be fully in place in time for Nebraska's arrival next year, the OSU game will almost always be for a berth in the BTC game. If Nebraska dominates the other division, it will almost be like playing in two bowl games every year. And it all starts with beating OSU, as it should.
I want the Michigan/OSU game to be like a single elimination game for a chance at the championship. Let lesser teams with lesser rivalries worry about rematches; Michigan/OSU is great enough that it doesn't have to be played twice a year.

I can't vote for OSU, because that would mean we were split up. I don't want that happening.

Most of you guys seem to be aspiring samurais of the kind that would rather fight a hated rival and risk death instead of pocketing sure victory. Why the hell wouldn't you take a team that you practically own like Minny or Wisky or even PSU thereby improving odds of victory?
