Please help - Tickets lost in mail

Hey guys, I have no idea what to do, please offer any suggestions.

 

My friend has season tickets, she can't make it to the game, so i bought Two Uconn tickets from her.  She sent them 2-day priority mail to me, On WEDNESDAY.  We both live in michigan, i assumed I would get it by a day actually...now its friday....and i'm panicing.  To make things worst, my friend is driving up from chicago in the morning, to accompany me for the game.  If tickets come tomorrow....great....but if they dont, will the ticket office help me in anyway?

what can I do, or my friend do in getting me into the game?

Maybe call the Post Office. If that doesn't work drive to the game and see if you can grab a couple off a scalper. If you get drunk enough at the tailgate it might not even matter if you get a ticket.

or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

It's true.  It's in the criminal code, there's legal prescedent setting cases in law.

Oh man, bad situation. You should call the post office as early as possible in the morning to have them hold your mail so you can pick it up from the office and not have to wait for it to get dropped off.

I have had issues with season tickets sort of like this before, and while you personally cant do much, you may be able to work things out.  If you can get your friend whose name the tickets are in to call the ticket office and set something up they may be able to hold replacements at will call.  I did this a while ago, and the people at UM were super helpful, though I think I gave them more lead time than just a few hours...If you do end screwed let me know, I have one extra I could probably hook you up with.

Do you guys know if the ticket office is open in the morning?  my friend is awesome and offered to drive to ann arbor to get replacement ones.

Moral of the story: avoid the Post Office.  For $2 more, your friend could have sent them UPS.  Tracking numbers and total avoidance of government funded incompetence FTW.

 

 

But seriously, I hope they show up tomorrow.

I think people don't really understand Priority Mail.  In most cases, it arrives no faster than first class.  In outlying areas, a late drop off of the mail can mean it's not really picked up until the next day, in this case Thursday.   I assume this mail didn't have the tracking number on it--that's another 75 cents.

But clearly, you can't say that they are "lost in the mail" at this point.

Priority Overnight works like a charm, isn't that much more expensive, and can even deliver on Sunday, IIRC.

The OP should go to the nearest post office that dispatches his mail tomorrow.  It may not be the nearest one.  If you catch the carrier before he/she departs, you might get a break.  I bet they arrive tomorrow.

As far as the ticket office helping; what are they supposed to do?  Let you sit in the seats until your postal carrier arrives wearing full UCONN regalia?

happened to me this week. I was mailing out tix to a friend in Michigan from Central Florida, since I can't make the game but I sent them via Priority Mail on 8/27 and they just arrived at his house today.

In the meantime I went to the post office yesterday and today to yell at people and all they would say is that priority mail is not guaranteed. My buddy got the tix so it worked out but this is my last time sending anything through USPS. I will take the advice above and go with Big Brown or the X.

well, she did have 2 day priority mail........WITH tracking.  but usps doesn't even show it in the system, but i've found a lot of the time, its never in the system to track it, till AFTER delivery..  now wonder these people lose billions a year.  i will avoid using usps at all costs from now on.

You should not have to buy tickets. We ended up taking the wrong tickets to a game one year and did not notice it until were were ready to walk into the game (after tailgating for 2 hours). We just went to Will Call and produced ID and they gave us replacement tickets.

Your friend (if she goes with you) should be able to do that.
