A plea to season ticket holders

Submitted by chewieblue on

I realize many of you are older (and therefore probably will not see this) and decide to give away your tickets because the late-season weather is harsh, but I make this plea to all season ticket holders.  PLEASE don't sell your tickets on stubhub or some other web-based ticket broker.  The last thing any of us want or need is your Michigan Stadium tickets being purchsed by Buckeye fans who will, if given the chance, populate our stadium with a revolting show of red.  (See two years ago... hell, even one glance around the stadium yesterday illustrates my point)

All I ask, plead and beg of you is that if you are unable to go and you have tickets to give away, JUST FIND ANOTHER MICHIGAN FAN and let them go instead of the on-line stranger who will almost certainly be a Buckeye.

I live in Ohio and I hear Buckeye fans talk about taking over Michigan stadium like they did in '09.  I realize a lot of people gave away '09 tickets, in part, due to their unwillingness to sit through the certain sadness to follow, but no self-respecting Michigan fan should ever give their ticket to a Buckeye.

If you are reading this, spread the word.  Unwanted tickets should only go to MICHIGAN men "fergodsakes"!!!  Keep the scarlet out of the Big House!!!  Let's create the homefield advantage our guys deserve and turn this series back on a dime in the right direction!

GO BLUE !!!!!

Admittedly, I was not there yesterday because my house is a remodeling calamity, but my tickets did go to another Michigan fan.

Generally, unless I am deathly ill, or someone in the family is, or there is some other priessing problem (like painting the damn hallway and building two beds), the tickets may be  had after I am dead.

is more of a problem with Michigan fans that should go to the game that don't, like myself.  I graduated in 2002, and over time I have just stopped going to games even when given the opportunity.  I make excuses, many of them valid (father of 4 year old who won't sit through game and babysitter problem), but the fact of the matter is that I am too big of a Michigan not go to games.  Seeing our guys having to overcome the Huskers home field advantage yesterday woke me up to this.  I need to start going again and pledge to beginning next year.

But other than this website, how is one sure who is buying your ticket (or if they'll resell it)?  When you sell on StubHub, at least it's legit with the Athletic Dept and I believe they get a cut of the proceeds.  If you sell to a scalper then you really don't know where the tix will go either.

I've been going to games long enough to know that when Michigan is putting a good team on the field, its fans come to the games to cheer - holiday weekend or no.  Nebraska travels very well (because they expect to win) and I would expect about the same amount of red in the stands next week (but not a huge influx, because OSU fans probably don't expect a win).

And nothing will make me smile more than knowing the OSU fans paid $100-$250/ticket to watch their team lose. And I'd also appreciate it if our law enforcement officials pay as strict attention to insuring that OSU fans obey all Michigan laws to the letter, just as their Ohio counterparts do to Michigan fans.

fear not Chewieblue, at least two of the tickets sold on stub hub are going to true MI fans. Traveling in from Denver to support our beloved Wolverines. Go Blue!!!

This year, especially. Ohio* fans that came in 07 or 09 don't have nearly the motivation to come up, on T'giving Saturday to see their team go 6-6, 3-5.

Go Blue!!

how do we know thaqt any of the brand new members of MGoBlog are actually Michigan fans and not some Ohio monsters posing as Michigan fans just to get cheap tickets to The Game.

I have been a Season Ticket holder for many years and I would rather the seats go unused than ever sell to someon who would show up in the Big House and litter it with the opposing team's colors.

If I was selling my tickets I would be asking some tough security questions to prve the buyer is actually a Michigan fan.  The type of historical facts or stories that only true Michigan fans know.

I remember when the Wings were playing Pittsburgh in the playoffs and if a Michigan resident tried to purchase tickets for a game in Pitssburgh, their credit card was rejected.  Brandon and the AD should do the same.  UNfortunately all Brandon is worried about is money and  sellouts.

There are thousands of vacated season tickets that are being withheld and sold on a game-by-game basis and he doesn't care who buys them as long as their paid for.  His latest scheme to raise $$ by forcing people to pay a minimum of $500.00 just to get on a list is total BS.  In this economy very few have hundreds of dollars just sitting around to "donate" just to get a chance to buy tickets.  That's bordering extortion.

I just bought 4 tickets off stub hub for the game. I figure my eight year old son needs to see this with his own eyes. Needless to say those four tickets will be decked out in maize.
