A plea for class

In the unfortunate event that Nick Sheridan is announced as Michigan's starting quarterback please please do not boo him. As a matter of fact, dont boo anyone. If you must express your disappointment, save your boos for Rich Rodriguez, he will be announced last. Sheridan's lack of ability is certainly no fault of his own. Last year I placed a lot of unmerited hatred upon his head, where in reality it was Rodriguez's incredible lapse of judgement that caused him to start over Threet. I pray that much of this quarterback "competition" is coach speak. It would be incredibly disappointing if Forcier(or the fleet footed Robinson) has not distanced himself at all from Sheridan, contrary to the promise we all saw in the spring game(and Robinson's explosiveness reported from practice). I really cannot see any reason to start Sheridan, as this would essentially be conceding the season to another throw away year. If Michigan is going to be terrible anyway, why wouldn't Rodriguez get the young guys some experience? There is really no good reason. I remain excited about the upcoming season. If Michigan can remain healthy on defense(a big if) I think that outside the quarterback spot they are one of the more talented teams in the big ten(not saying much at this point). I pray that we are talented at the qb spot too, but even if we are not it is not the fault of the kids in uniform. Blame the man who put them there.

This is my opinion. But i only see Sheridan getting snaps if we have a healthy lead. Which i don't think we will have a huge lead against many teams. I believe RR is trying to keep team morale up since it's so early in the season.

He just gonna hand it off if he get to play. Sherry-don't ain't gonna do nuthin but get gatorade for Screech and Muggsy. Screech is my #1 cuz he was MVP at Bay Side high, he complte like 120% of his passes to Zack and AC He best at passing. Muggsy run a 8.3 100 milimeter thats faster than Hussien bolt and he play in NBA already getin asstits so he got that goin for him. how buout screech for passin plays and muggsy for runnin' and sherry can keep gatrade cold

Perhaps Sheridan is still in the discussion because being the QB with the most experience with the offense, he's making the fewest mistakes in practices? If Nick has gone from "unspeakably bad" to "good enough to not lose games" then maybe he has a place in the starting line-up until Forcier or Denard get some more seasoning. Don't get me wrong this is not a scenario I want to see happen and Sheridan starting the whole season still seems like recipe for disaster. Maybe he starts against WMU and we put the burden on Minor, Brown, and Shaw to get us the win? {shudder} That's SUCH a scary thought....

How about we just don't boo? If Sheridan sucks, he will be replaced. If Forcier sucks, he will be replaced. If Robinson sucks, he will be replaced. It's not like Rodriguez will be grinning from ear to ear as one of the QBs bumbles around the field, only to hear a boo and suddenly think, "Wait a minute - does that mean I should change my quarterback? What is that sound I hear?" Whether you boo or not, Rodriguez won't care. He basically said "Fuck you" to his home state and alma mater. Why the hell would he cave in to a wave of boos from a restless Michigan crowd?

"As a matter of fact, dont boo anyone" I think that it'd take an extreme level of badness ( think the Oregon game from '07 ) to get boos from the crowd. I don't think Sheridan is going to start, but if he struggles he'd be pulled before it gets to the booing stage. Now I've been thinking about this subject from time to time, and while I wouldn't want to boo a college team, I think that if the play ( or conduct ) of a team is really poor when the crowd expects much more, yes, they can be booed. College age kids are fighting in Afghanistan, if they're old enough to fight then college football players are old enough to handle a little booing over football, if they suck bad enough or if they do something stupid (I'm thinking of the infamous Miami - Florida International brawl ).
