playoff chaos aside - What team would you most like to see us play in a bowl game?

Submitted by trueblue262 on

Obviously everybody would love to get in the playoffs,

but if complete chaos does not happen, what team would you like to see Michigan match up with? There are some interesting potential match ups. I would love to see a Michigan / Notre Dame game. Irish can run, but they can't hide from us!

Happy Friday, and Go Blue!

thought about ND in the Rose Bowl.  I don't think it is likely but it would be really cool.  I don't think they would do it though because of regional interests.  I think it is more likely that, if the Pac 12 champ some how makes it to the playoff and there is not another one NY 6 worthy that they would go to the Big 12.  Michigan v. Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl would be epic.

Given the options, if not the Rose Bowl, ND or LSU in the Peach Bowl would be cool.  If Citrus, yes to LSU, yes to Ole Miss, no to Florida, no to Georgia.

I think the Pac 12 is virtually eliminated from the CFP at this point. Of course there's a lot of football left to play, and total chaos could ensue. Every team above us (with the possible exception of Clemson) has an eminently losable game or even 2 left ahead.

So if every team in the top 10 loses, while Stanford (#11 this week) and M (#12) win out, we'd both have 2 losses while several of them would still have only 1.

For example, I'd wager that is we beat psu & osu, while osu beats msu and loses to us, they'll still be ahead of us in the CFP - until we beat an undefeated Iowa to become official B1G champs. That would probably jump us over them.

If Stanford beats ND and wins the Pac12 I still don't know how they vault all the teams ahead of them, as thier opponent in the P12 title game would have multiple losses.

And if common foes is a consideration, how can Stanford be ahead of us they lost to Northwestern and we routed them? And our 2nd loss was by the flukiest fluke... although we did escape Minny & Indiana by the skinniest skin of our teeth.

So, option 1, Chaos, we go to the playoff.

Option 2, Stanford in the Rose for tradition's sake I guess, but really Oklahoma would be cool in Rose, Orange, etc. - those are 2 teams we lost bowls to in my youth I've been wanting revenge on for 40 years and more!!!

I'd have to say Notre Dame. Because, obviously, but also because that likely means that we'd be playing against them in the NCG unless Clemson or Bama lose. That would also probably mean that we would have already beaten Clemson as well.

App St won 3 FCS national championships in a row.  Does anyone cite that or talk about how good App St was when they talk about "the horror"?  A school with a big name losing to a program with much less name recognition is never good.

If they end up in the top 25 this year, it will be Houston's 2nd top 25 finish in 25 years.  So unless Houston enjoys sustained succes, it won't matter that Houston was ranked.  It will only be, remember when Michigan lost to Houston?  Houston, are you kidding me, that program stinks.

And yet still... beat Houston and you've forgotten it before the final gun stops echoing - lose and you've lost to Urbz heir apparent. That's how our "friends" to the south would spin it.

Howeva - add NC to that list of teams we lost bowls to in the 70s I want revenge on. It is a dish best served cold, I've heard?!

Seems like Florida has been the popular pick among the sites making predictions. I'm ok with that. Georgia is the team I'd like to see Michigan play at some point. Michigan has played all the other SEC teams before. LSU after Les moves on.

Someone like Baylor with a really good passing offense. I'd like to see our secondary match up against a tream like that.
