Playing for win #900 against MSU
Just thought it might be fun to point out that, assuming all goes as intended next week (Illinois looks lousy this year), our boys will be playing, not only to break a 4-year losing streak (tied for MSU's longest win-streak since at least 1953, if not in history), but to earn the programs 900th football win at home against Michigan State. It will be fun to see any hype about this.
This is barring hypothetical jinxes, but homecoming with a lousy team? I'm not afraid.

one game at a time, please

Can't let the message boards get distracted. That'll kill us in practice this week.

If we lose next week, I will hunt you down and hurt you.

Wow, didn't realize Michigan had beaten State 900 times in the Big House. If extrapolation applies fairly accurately, I think Michigan has played Illinois more times than State and probably has a better record, so next Saturday will hopefully be about 1023 wins at home against Illinois. Very nice.

You're not funny.

We've beaten MSU 900 times at home?!
October 7th, 2012 at 5:48 PM ^
You're not funny either.

It just feels that way.

before this one was 1959-1962.
But if we don't beat MSU it's your fault.

Man, I CANNOT wait to beat Sparty! I used to work with a guy who graduated from there and outside of being a Sparty he was pretty cool EXCEPT when they beat us again. Talk about Dr. Jeckyl/ Mr. Hyde!! What a complete tool he was for the next 2 weeks.
#CAN't WAIT!!

I've always wondered, do the pizza places compensate you for the wear and tear to your car that you use for deliveries?
October 7th, 2012 at 11:47 PM ^
Everyone's a comedian! Couldn't tell you about the Pizza place or the car as I've never worked in one and I live in NYC so I don't drive but....you....YOU!! You're a funny guy! /s

Stop. Talk about this when it happens.

This is just asking for a jinx . . .

Actually their pass defense is ranked 35 of all teams. If they somewhat destroy Mawell's confidence then we will be in good shape. Levon Bell does not look too good except against Indiana.
October 7th, 2012 at 5:35 PM ^
No way, dude. I read somewhere that Leveon Bell is a STUD!! He should definitely get some Heisman love.
October 7th, 2012 at 5:41 PM ^
Considering MSU's offensive line is certainly one of the worst, if not the worst, O-line in the Big Ten. Not saying he should get Heisman love, because he shouldn't, but he is a good back. If you're going to make fun of MSU, there are much better targets (O-line, WRs, DBs).
October 7th, 2012 at 6:17 PM ^
He is definitely very talented but they tend to oversell his abilities, as well as other "beasts" on their team. I definitely saw some plenty of Heisman talk from them after the Boise State game. If they can exclaim "September Heisman LOLOL" why can't we do the same for good fun?
October 8th, 2012 at 1:15 AM ^
Ghoston as well. But I think their "Best O-line in the Big Ten" is a far better thing to make fun of. Because honestly, it's horrific. Whereas Bell would be pretty dang good behind any other O-line.
October 7th, 2012 at 5:47 PM ^
I dont think Bell even looked good against IU. His per carry average was very pedestrian, even below-average. He only looked good AT THE END, when IU's DL got gassed. If he performs against us the way he did yesterday, we'll be fine.
By the way, I so did NOT say any of this, as officially I am NOT looking past U of I. It's Illinois week, not Sparty week. We aren't discussing this, period.

happening this year.

Dantonio has been able to get them to play essentially their best games of each season against us. Nothing that happens this week from either squad will have me feeling great about that game. However, after watching our game yesterday, I do feel much better.

Jinxes and superstitions are immature and for little kids gentlemen. Lets try to act like adults.

NEXT QUESTION.
October 7th, 2012 at 5:51 PM ^
I was this close to posting it on here. Glad I didn't. If we lose next week you're fucked.
October 7th, 2012 at 5:57 PM ^
I'm not looking past Illinois, and I know Hoke isn't, and I hope the team isn't.
October 7th, 2012 at 8:05 PM ^
I feel the team will be okay.
October 7th, 2012 at 6:02 PM ^
Jesus H Christ man, do you WANT us to lose this Saturday?
October 7th, 2012 at 7:05 PM ^
This is college football. anything can happen. We didn't lose to an FCS team or anything....oh wait.

Anyone have any feeling about what might be the kickoff time for MSU, either noon or 3:30? Just wondering if anyone's heard anything yet (semi) definitively, or knows when that information might be announced.
October 8th, 2012 at 11:25 AM ^
"1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6....."
"Hey man, what are you doing?"
"Me? Oh, I'm just counting up my chickens here."
"But dude, those aren't chickens, those are just eggs."
"Yeah, but they will b....wait, what?"

Would be cool if Gameday were around for the occasion. Unfortunately I have a feeling that Kansas St./WVU will get the nod. Sleeper pick: If KSU or WVU lose this week and Duke can knock off Virginia Tech, they will go to Durham for the Duke/UNC game. That would be something.
