Player tributes
Summer is just around the corner, and that's when I usually go on upload overload on YouTube to get pumped up for football season. People seem to enjoy the player tribute videos the most and I thought I would take requests from the folks here. Which ones do you want too see?
I'm already planning a Biakabutuka tribute. And I've recently noticed that I have plenty of footage to make one for Amani Toomer. Although I'm trying to decide if he should get one since he's still cranky about Lloyd Carr and is pretty estranged from the UM program.
I've already got most of the "biggies" covered...

Who else would you like to see over summer?
Jake Long!
Lamarr Woodley!
Gunner Kiel?
David Harris, Leon Hall, Marlin Jackson, Larry Foote and of couse Zoltan Mesko
If there's ever a place for the "Here Comes the Boom," it's a Zoltan highlight film. That, or the theme from Flash Gordon.
I wouldn't mind a Mario Manningham one.
The first game I ever attended was against PSU in 2006. <3 Mario after that game.
Not to be that guy...but I'm pretty sure you mean 2005. It's all good though cuz Adrian ripped through PSU in 2006.
Indeed I did. Good looking out.
Zoltan Mesko!
Steve Hutchinson
Hutch and Woodley would be great. How about one on the '97 defense. They had some awesome plays as a unit.
but whats the story with the Toomer estrangement? Love the guy because he was a Giant
was that Lloyd Carr passed him over and congratulated Brian Griese on some play. He also stated that he was jealous of then teammate, current parollee, Plexiglass Burress and his relationship with his alma mater. I think he basically felt underappreciated. (I think I have this right...)
Play his segment from Friday's WTKA marathon with a few of his teammates. He was having a lot of fun, including fun regarding teammate rivalries. Obviously, if he was ever estranged, his being there at all says something's changed.
I'm a Toomer Booster too, if that affects the history vote.
I think Derrick Alexander was one of the most underrated UMich players. He was in Desmond's shadow most of the way. Had a pretty good pro career:

Although Amani Toomer might still be somewhat "estranged" from the program I would enjoy seeing his highlight video.
Perhaps a John Kolesar vid might be considered.
I uploaded the 94 Boston College game yesterday and he was on fire. I also recently watched the 94 Illinois game where he returned a punt 72 yards for a TD. He had some great plays. I just wish he would stop being so angry.
Steve Breaston.
Jay Feely or Garret Rivas
I long for the days when we had actual kickers who...I dunno...made kicks?
Ali Haji-sheikh!
Made field goals. They were never one of our greatest strengths. But we used to be able to make them...a hell of alot better than the last 3 years.
Mike Gillette probably deserves a video since he made about a hundred field goals. Wonder what he's up to these days.
Kinda OT but your question about Mike made me go see if I could find anything out about him. Take a look at the assistants for the 1988 team:
Assistant coaches: Tirrel Burton, Cam Cameron, Lloyd Carr, Jerry Hanlon, Bill Harris, Jim Herrmann, Les Miles, Gary Moeller, Bobby Morrison, Tom Reed
I would say that's a pretty impressive bunch. Oh...and thanks so much for your work. I just clicked on your Ricky Leach montage and had such good memories!
better kicking, but I don't want to watch the videos of it.
I'd take a Remy Hamilton on the current roster too though.
Ty Law
...Greatest Hits montage? Needz MOAR defense.
this gets my vote. There's not much better than a good hit. Especially if you're on the giving end.
You could have a mix of clutch catches and crushing special teams blocks.
Loved the play. Hated the call since Musberger kept insisting that was a late hit. Herbie didn't think so, though.
i concur
Might be fun if time allows. Would not include a lot of recent highlights as we have forgotten this position. Would get us hyped for the future.
Chris Perry. I will never forget his 51 carries against MSU.
[EDIT: Also, these videos are awesome. Kudos!]
I just assumed he was on the OP's list of tributes already created...yes please for #23. He was such a work horse his Senior year.
+1
He is one of my favorite Michigan Back
Messner
Ha!
I agree. I was a football manager back when Messner was there (along with hammerstien). I was assigned to coach Meter and the defensive line.
He's one of my favorites.. not only because he was great at football. But because my softball team was short a few players one day.. and he filled in.... Total Ringer... the other team (restaurant league) couldn't believe I brought in Michigan football players for my team...(Mike Gillette also came)
what a great story! Though I come here to read the latest news/stats on Michigan FB, I love catching these little stories and anecdotes about our former/current players. It makes me so proud to be a Wolverine.
Yep. I want to make one for him. I just need to get some more games from his senior year.
Please
Where do you get these games from?
....about WolverineHistorian
I was only about 3 when he played in the late 1990's, but a Sam Sword tribute would be really great! I see him in the 1997 tributes and want more.
Perry, as mentioned. Also --
KEVIN DUDLEY!
I'll just go with more recent players since I'm sure it's much easier to find highlights. Steve Breaston's would be amazing. Gives me chills just thinking about him back for a return. John Navarre would also a good player who deserves a tribute (don't hate). Guys like Marlin Jackson, Dhani Jones, Leon Hall would also be very worthy.
1 Manningham 2 Marquise Walker 3 Brandon Minor 4 Woodley
