Player with Most Pressure in 2010?

Submitted by hausoian on
Which player, in your opinion, has the most pressure on his shoulders in 2010? "Pressure" could be anything from production expected, leadership exhibited, or most "playmaking" expected. I have two answers: Ryan Van Bergen and Craig Roh. RVB because of his experience and leadership expected, and Roh because of his playmaking and production. Not to put too much on the kid, but if he could make a similar leap from FR to SO year like Brian Cushing (a guy I would compare him to) he'll undoubtedly be a star on our defense. I am a huge believer in the notion that elite teams have elite defensive lines above all else. If these two can improve even moderately, I think our DL can be enough to get to 8 wins easily.

Offense: Tate Foricier, because he's the QB for Michigan. Defense: JT Turner, because he's supposed to be awesome. As tempting as it may be, don't over-think these things.

Seriously, stopping the long runs and long passes will be the key to this year. We have not had decent safety play in a number of years even back when LC was head coach......

1. Tate Forcier- Has to cut down on the turnovers, hopefully can stay healthy a whole season. 2. Obi Ezeh- Will we ever see the Utah game Obi Ezeh again, or will we see the Wisconsin game Obi Ezeh. 3.- Justin Turner/ Demar Dorsey- Have to make our secondary at least average. 4. Darryl Stonum- When is he ever going to break out? 5. Michael Shaw- The same thing as Stonum's.

Brendan Gibbons. Olesnavage didn't have "pressure" per se, since nobody'd ever heard of him or expected anything of him. Given that Wright's never attempted a field goal (and, the possibility that he's not even on the team anymore), Gibbons is the man and is a guru-approved prospect.

exactly. Tate no brainer to improve and lead the offense. On defense Ezeh needs to lead the unit and improve his play. A lot of pressure there. I think the most falls on Ezeh based on performances last year as a Junior. Tate was expected to struggle as a frosh.

Ezeh and Mouton and thus I would argue have the most pressure. They will both be seniors who have started for 3+ years. They dont get anymore mulligans. The failings of the defense start with them. we will be solid if not spectacular up front. Corner and safety should improve, if even marginally due to greater athleticism. But the ILB spots were a huge gaping hole for which there is no help on the way.

QB is the toughest position to play and 110,000 have an opinion on every move you make. This team goes as far as Tate Forcier or whoever the starting QB is takes them.

Tate and the offense will score points, that's not the problem. The problem is, hoping the amount each game is enough to win. I expect to have the best offense in the Big Ten, but our defense, which will be lead by two seniors - LBs Ezeh and Mouton, will dictate how good/decent this defense can be. That's pressure. That's real pressue, cause people around college football have been talking about our defense for years. ESPN isn't going to stop, no one is. The defense, that's what needs to improve. The pressure is really on Greg Robinson, but as a unit, it starts with the LB play.

Also Mike Williams. With all the young safety recruits we have stockpiled, if Williams doesn't demonstrate some major improvement out of the gate in 2010 he could get buried on the depth chart real quick.

This guy was pre-selected for the Butkus award last season. He lost time to Kevin Leach (40 lbs lighter than him) who played one year behind him in HS. His measurables were off the chart wrt to the competition. He had a good freshman year - a killer game vs. Illinois his sophomore year - but Obi started with the Horror (followed by Oregon) - not that any of that is on him - but this is his chance to make good on his career and push for a good look from the pros. Ten of the top ten Mich tacklers are middle linebackers. Obi can be that guy! We were horrible against the run last year. Please don't let the Badgers make us look like MAC team. Let do it Obi!

One last thing, there are some beasty players behind Obi. Furman, Bell, Moundros (he wants to play) even Ryan could do it. The coaches are going to staunch the bleeding with whatever works.
