Plans for Wife Day?

Submitted by Erik_in_Dayton on

So we now face the grim reality that Michigan does not have a game tomorrow.  The bye week has become, as many of you are aware, known as Wife Day on this blog.  What are your plans?  Anything particularly special for the wife?

Not having a wife, mine are as follows:

9:00-11:00:  Get caught up on Breaking Bad.

11:00-12:00:  Keep on truckin'.

12:00-3:30: Try to reach enlightenment and/or light workout.

3:30-6:30:  Watch OSU v. MSU.

6:30-8:00:  Check up on the moonshine still.

8:00-11:00:  Watch Wisconsin v. Nebraska.

11:00-12:00:  Lollygag.

1. Get up, drink coffee

2. Get in a 8-10 mile run

3. Have breakfast

4. Go to Oktoberfest, (since I'm performing, yes I'm wearing Lederhosen, but hey I get beer, good beer generally) Wife and son come with me.

5. After 4 hours of playing my trumpet, attempt to pull the lipe of of the lead pipe, change someplace and then probably grab a bite to eat.

6. Go home hang with the family and watch some of the late games.

7. Since I don't have a rooting interest in any of them, sleep easily and well.

Heading to Atlanta with the girlfriend for her birthday. Might take in the MTSU-Georgia Tech game with her friend's husband and let the ladies do their own thing for the afternoon. Not the most exciting matchup, but its live football.

It's Girlfriend Day for me, instead of Wife Day.

  1. Eastern Market in the morning
  2. Possible Apple Orchard, depending on how early we go to the Farmer's Market
  3. Matinee movie, most likely Trouble with the Curve, although I'd much rather see Looper, but this day isn't about me.
  4. Fish Taco's and grilled corn for dinner.
  5. Relaxing at home, hopefully getting a chance to watch the Wisky-Neb game but who knows.

A Saturday in September without getting a chance to watch football just doesn't seem right to me.

Anyone else working on Saturday? I work in college athletics and have home soccer and volleyball matches to be at in the afternoon. My night will involve dinner with my girlfriend and then going to the bar to watch football and play pool. I'm be doing the former.

and I thought it would be great to get a group trip to a Slippery Rock game (when Michigan is on the road).  Friday night tavern, Saturday tailgate, and group seats with our Meeeechigan garb.  Maybe they'd even mention us over the PA.

I checked the map, and it's just a tad over the border into Pennsylvania.  Not all that far.

Taking the wife to IKEA in the morning to find a light for the nursery. Then hopefully watch some football in the afternoon. Who knows, may even start playing Borderlands 2 with the wife (who actually wants to play it).

Wifeless, but I'm going back home to buy my mom a new router and help her set up her wireless network again.  Might even get a home-cooked meal out of it.  So its kind of like wife day, I guess.

Mine isn't much better.  She just knows there is a problem with the ether cable.

I tried pointing out that is more of a medical problem than a technological one, but it didn't take.

wife, kids, and grandparents out to dinner at the Ale House. I still get to watch footbaw, so I am happy. Will try to get a nice present from my wife, but I am sure she will say no. So I will probably end up being in the right hand club as well.

Grandparents combined with kids are the most potent of all anti-aphrodesiacs. That's a tough one to overcome. It will take more than candles and wine. I would say your odds of a getting "nice present" are only a meager 1 to 1.3 per cent.

Overnight trip from A2 to Grand Rapids to check out ArtPrize. I heard it is quite the event. I hope to pick up some wife bonus points and still find a bar to watch some non-Michigan football.

For wife day, my wife and I will actually get to watch college football together, which is a rare thing for us.  When Michigan is playing (football and/or basketball), she can't be in the same room as me for fear of flying furniture.

Also, there may be time in there to sneak in a trip to Ikea.  She wants curtains and new coffee mugs, I don't want to spend a lot of money and I like swedish meatballs.  Win-win situation for everyone involved.

nothing but listening all day long. "

you will never believe what the co-worker's sister's kids won't eat now, that i already told you about last week!"

I AM MORE THAN A PAIR OF EARS, YOU KNOW!

Wake up in Philly, catch a flight to Pittsburgh. Pick up a Camaro at rental car. Drive up to Westminster to pick up my son, drive to north of Flint to my brothers house for his rainbow trout fish fry, try not to drink too much because we have sweet seats for the Lions game on sunday.
