to make up his mind. If he decides to stay in the NFL, then he should just flat out tell Michigan that he is not interested, instead of stringing us along through mid or late January!

We will know something sooner than that (mid January). Everything we hear right now is contradicting the source/rumor that we heard right before it, all of it is speculation. Jim knows the timelines, recruiting is at a standstill, some reports are acting like it is not and is crucial that a decision must be made now. Fan bloggers know that we really didn't expect to actually hear anything until the end of the NFL season. He may have already made up his mind. It is the perfect time to return to his Alma Mater.

Patience, Patience, Patience

The Team, The Team, The Team

Patiently waiting until the end of the month!

for 5 to 6 M per year.  Mullen and Bob Stoops may want similar money to that of the proposed Harbaugh contract. These are the three I would like to see coach Michigan. My guess it will probably end  up Miles and I think it will be a great fit for the next 5 to 6 years. But the best fit will be Harbaugh! I hope he decides to coach for Michigan.

There is no "Plan B"

This isn't an "oops, I forgot to pull out."

EDIT:  I would be ok with Les, just because I've wanted to see him coach Michigan. I don't care if he's "old" or "goofy."  He kicks ass and loves Michigan, and has a charisma that most do not.

Les would be the best to get the program rolling again before retiring, then we could go out and find someone else who kicks ass conssitently.  I know some might argue differently, but if anyone deserves to be the "2nd choice," I think Miles should have been the coach years ago.

its all rumors and nonsense.  All we know is Harbaugh has the job if he wants it, but he is sorely tempted by NFL riches and promises of world domination.  Very heady to him.  In AA he will only by king of Big10 & possibly a little more.  There is the good angel whispering in his ear: "Jimmy come home to Michigan" -- the bad devil : Coach, you can be the biggest name on Sunday, every year & you can wear the same khaki's all the time"

I think he will go for the gold ring elsewhere , he might think -- I can still coach for 8 more years in the NFL & still be young enough to go back to UM during the next vacancy, -----

& we will try for Stoops and settle on Miles.

Twitter is blowing up right now

News of Harbaugh's agent flying to A2 tomorrow.... "Sources" saying it's a done deal. Very recent posts from usually reputable places... hmmm...

Les Miles is definitely top shelf.  He and Bob Stoops have long track records of winning and Les in the toughest conference of all.

Les would stay til he retired and leave Michigan a much better program and probably 1 or more B1G titles and I suspect a NC title run before the end.

I don't understand all the love for Mullen. He runs a system that doesn't fit Michigan's current players and has never finished better than 2nd in the SEC West.

Yeah, well... if Michigan had to play Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and LSU every year, I'd probably consider switching teams. Winning that division with a school that's on par with Indiana in terms of football is basically impossible, do you honestly think the other coaches we're considering would do better at MSU? I doubt it.

first time postiing. Live in the heart of enemy territory (columbus). Majority here wants anyone but harbaugh. Hardly any chatter about the upcoming beating they'll be taking from bama. My first choice has always been stoops followed by miles since I thought harbaugh was a pipe dream until this past week. Michigan football becomes relevant again with any of the three I just mentioned. Dear 8lb 6oz baby Jesus please makes this work.

Welcome! Sorry to hear you live in OSU country. My only real experience with the fan base there was in 2006 for the epic OSU/UM (#1v2) game, when my friends and I drove down for the game. I remember listening to the radio as we heard them recommend taking our license plates off when we crossed stated lines into Ohio. It was intense! My 2005 Ford Mustang was egged as we drove through Frat Row. Even though we lost (39-42), it was the best football game I have ever been to. My best friend with me was a former member of the football team and I remember almost getting into a fight with some OSU students on our way back to the car. We were HOT. I hope to see the rivalry regain its status in the hierarchy soon.

Best part of hiring Dan Mullen will be getting another shot at hiring Harbaugh in 4 years. Dude hasn't won shit in the SEC and his only claim to fame is throttling a shitty Rich Rod team.
