Place to watch UM-MSU in Myrtle Beach...HELP!!

Submitted by naijablue on

I have a golf trip for work that was scheduled months ago for this weekend. Our tee time Saturday morning is at 8:42am. I had assumed that this would turn out to be a 3:30 game or at least a noon game on ESPN or ESPN2. Of course, with my luck, this game somehow ends up on BTN at noon.

I am thinking Buffalo Wild Wings but not sure if they will be showing Big Ten Network games down there. Let me know if anyone has any better suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

... anything has DirecTV and will have the BTN. You might have to ask and you might end up with it on a crappy small TV but, ya know, it's still the game. All the BWW's here in Texas have DirecTV and subsequently BTN. I actually got them to put on a UM basketball game last year when we were playing literally no one and, at noon, there aren't that many decent games on anyway so that's in your favor for getting a TV.

It is a huge entertainment complex about 1 mile off the beach. There are numerous sports bars there and I am sure one of them carries The Big Ten Network. I think Stool Pigeons has televisions in every booth. Not sure if they carry the BTN though.

Growing up without cable sucked, but it did imbue me with one thing I find extremely valuable these days: If I don't get to watch a game because it's on a network I don't get, I don't commence panicking on Monday and spend the whole week shitting a brick about missing a game. It's good for the blood pressure.

I think Spirit flies directly to Detroit from Myrtle Beach. I got sent there initially when flying in for the ND game (weather issues). They sent me and my girlfriend to Myrtle Beach, then I finally got to Detroit at midnight.

I flirted with the idea of just making it a beach weekend, then I realized I really wanted to get last year's game out of my memory.

There have to be a fair number of sports bars in Myrtle Beach. I would just look them up in the Yellow Pages, give them a call, and ask. When I first moved away from Michigan, that's what I did. I just told them I wanted to watch the Michigan vs. Appalachian State game (yeah, yeah, I know) and asked if they would have it on a TV. They said sure.

Buffalo Wild Wings would probably be a good bet. And it's not like UM is playing a crappy, small team that nobody cares about - it's a crappy, big team that nobody cares about.

There are an unGODly number of sports bars in MB. There are about 75 different Hooters. It's the tackiest place in America. People from Texas and Vegas go there and think, "Jeez...calm down, guys."

If you want: a Wings outlet (beach supplies), a golf course, a neon sign, or a sports bar...MB can supply it in spades. You'll be fine.

They'll have it on & and nice young Coastal Carolina University ladies waiting tables (near the school on 501)... Don't go to Beef O'Bradys - all of them have OSU flags, and no UM flags... Yes, we get a lot of Michigan golfers, but EVERY freakin' Buckeye and his brother comes down here too... even Eddie George owns 1/3 of the local minor league baseball team (MB Pelicans) and comes down once a year to parade around in a car on the field before the game

BW3 will definitely have it if you go there. I'd go to a place called Melons (they have a ton of TVs and it'll be empty) which is on 17 Business and 2nd ave South.

If you're going to Broadway at the Beach, go to Broadway Louie's (not Stool Pigeons)

Most of the dumpy little sports bars around here have DirecTV, so if all else fails just call around. It's pretty dead around here right now so not that many places will be crowded.
