Pizza Bowl Open Thread

Submitted by LSAClassOf2000 on

I managed to get out of a meeting earlier than expected, so this shall be the last thing I do at my desk here....

Continuing our series of non-flashy, non-relevant bowl games is  the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl, played right here in Michigan at the home of the playoff-bound Detroit Lions.

Our contestants are a 7-5 Western Michigan team versus a 6-6 Purdue team. Most pundits are predicting a close one that, either way, shows the world that Purdue has a way to go to relevancy.

4:30 PM on ESPN.

Later this evening, the Belk Bowl. Oh yeah, fun and excitement continues.

Who's everyone rooting for? I've got Western. I'm from West Michigan and my sister went there. I usually root B1G so I had to think about it for a second.

Personally don't like MSUs chances agaist Georgia.  They're a pretty good team.

I do agree that OSU should handle Florida pretty easily.  And I would be surprised if Illinois won.  That team is completely deflated.

I think 5-5 is a good possibility.  i think Michigan and Ohio should both win, and there are a bunch of 50-50 games (Penn State, MSU, NW, Purdue, Illinois).  Even Iowa, who a lot of people have written off, could win.  Oklahoma has lost most of its receiving corps, and their secondary is not good.  Since Iowa is going to have to pass most of the time anyway, they could roll up a lot of points in that one.

These lame bowls are so awful. It's really bad when these stadiums they are playing in are half full or worse. The bigger bowls can't come any slower.

This marks the beginning of my bowl pool. I've got 10 confidence points on Purdue so Let's Go!

On a side note, were the Little Caeser's end-zone scripts really necessary? Don't they get enough airtime from having their name on the bowl and from those awful commercials during Tigers games? #CmonIlitch

WMU grad here...I'll be rooting for the Broncos! Jordan White is the real deal, and I think  they will pull this one out. They've had some recent luck against Big Ten and AQ teams. GO BRONCOS!

The answer is:  Dink, dunk, dunk, dink, dink, dink, dunk, dunk, dunk, dink, dink, dunk.

The question was: What does the Purdue downfield passing game sound like?
