Pipkins named to Army AA game

Submitted by drewro02 on

Used the Google search and didn't see this posted, and the screen will not allow me to go to page two of the MGoBoard (does anyone know a fix for this?). Congrats to Ondre! Hopefully a couple more names already on this list will go Blue.

This is true. Strobel's name is not on the list for the game. There was also a post several months back that Ojemudia had received and and accepted an invitation to the Army game (if I remember correctly it came from Ojemudia's twitter account) , but neither of the two are on the list, so I'm not sure that they are involved in the game. I think they are both nominees, but not actual selectees yet.

The sad fact is that most of UM's Army All-American participants of the last few seasons have been huge busts or have not contributed at Michigan.

To wit:

  1. Boubacar Cissoko
  2. Sam McGuffie
  3. Brandon Smith
  4. Anthony La Lota
  5. Justin Turner
  6. Cullen Christian
  7. Will Campbell (improving but still well below expected)

We have had more success with guys in the Under Armour game: Craig Roh, Taylor Lewan, Devin Gardner.

I'm actually starting to think that we have some kind of jinx on players who participate in the Army AA game.

That reminds me, I forgot to include Brendan Gibbons in my "bust" list.

Yeah, we still have a few guys who might prove to be valuable contributors after playing in the Army AA game: Gallon, Hagerup, Wile and Countess. That is still a surprisingly low "hit rate" for as many AA's as UM has managed to sign in the past few years.

Let's hope the 2012 Army AA class is more successful than their predecessors.

Big Pip is my favorite recruit outside of Kalis (for putting the screws to the Nuts).  Very happy for him and really hope he stays healthy.

Wow, really?  I'd love to get him but everything I've read seems to indicate he and Adolphus Washington are a package deal and are no longer considering Michigan.  In fact, I thought they both have cancelled their scheduled official visits, no?

Why would you be surprised he hasn't committed yet?  Did I miss something or do you have some inside information?  I thought Payton, Darboh, Powe and Madaris were are our best hopes for landing top notch receivers in this class.
