Pinstripe Bowl Open Thread

Submitted by LSAClassOf2000 on

So, this is the New Era Pinstripe Bowl Open Thread.

This will feature an 8-4 Rutgers teams and a 6-6 Iowa State team, and you'll see it played live from Yankee Stadium.

In a nutshell, an anemic Rutgers offense versus a Cyclones team that played what ESPN describes as a "brutal" schedule. As this is the Big East versus the Big 12, expect some pretty shaky defense too, but hopefully no Tecmo Bowl.

ESPN at 3:20 PM. Be there, if you dare. Lots of action yet to come today.

Sorry for the thread hijack but this is too good but not worthy of a thread... what does MSU and an alligator attack have in common? The following link, click here...

I found myself not thrilled with either choice, but on a whim, I went Rutgers here. This is one of the games where I actually let my son pick. Needless to say, by the time we came to this game, the first thing I heard was, "Can I watch Power Rangers instead?"

EDIT: So far, Rutgers defense has been everywhere except where they needed to be. Sort of the anti-Visa.

DOUBLE EDIT: Literally, everywhere but where they should be. Iowa State thanks you for your generous donation of five yards.

TRIPLE EDIT: Offside calls matter when they put someone in FG range. 3-0 Iowa State.

Is anyone else having a tough time with the Gator Bowl in their choice of tOSU or Florida? Miller is a threat at offense but OSU's SEC record isn't great and its in Florida. Idk still deciding. I had OSU originally but have switched to Florida.

I just hope both blunder around in a low-scoring affair for three quarters before one ekes out an unconvincing win.

All that said, I'd prefer an OSU win just because I like to see the myth of SEC superiority punctured regularly.

Is it just me, or is his patience with Holtz wearing visibly thin? He looks at him as if to say, "Just keep talking, old man..."

EDIT: Rutgers is playing some un-Big East defense so far in the 2nd half. If all goes well, I may have my son pick more in these polls.

Arguing about who has spent more time in the meat packing district.

Don't they have a producer?

What next? Who's spent more time in poontang town?

The producer has yet to return from poontang town, so this is stream of consciousness for the rest of the game. I can't wait for Palmer to start talking about his afternoon on Coney Island...

EDIT: Hands up anyone who also believes that "The Champ" is now officially played out?

How Jesse was like "ya know Chris I've spent time with you and your beautiful wife in the meat packing district".

I laughed out loud.

Looks like a girl I went to school with. Of course, if I had knocked her up, that could conceiveably be our daughter.

Not that anyone cares. But if they can talk about their trips to meat packing, I don't know why not. (Fowler, you have heard what they call you? NTTAWWT, but talk about perpetuating a myth).

After half the players on the field were accused of holding, Iowa gets its first TD in the game with ten minutes left in regulation. I dare say the Cyclones' OC can put down the cutlass for the moment - it's a game now.
