Noy needs a UM jersey! Nice album, compelling shot of Denard kneeling after TD with Hemingway on his way over to him. . .I was in Sec 5 so these are the reverse views of what I saw.

GO BLUE!

Was on the cover of Muscle and Fitness Her in 3/2011. She's a sweetie.
Noelle was my personal trainer for a couple of years. She's a great friend. I'll be doing a photoshoot of her in the next month or two.

I got turned away. I was told that cameras with detachable lenses were not allowed. So I turned around and went into another gate and the guy let me in without saying anything.
In the past several years I've brought in the same set up with no one ever saying anything. This was the first time I was turned away. On the ticket it says that cameras with detachable lenses were not allowed. I'm not sure if this is a new rule or not but obviously it is not heavily enforced. I walked by a lot of cops and stadium staff and no one said a word. I did see other fans with other dSLRs but smaller glass on. I have to admit I was pretty anxious when I was walking around hoping no would confiscate it or ask me to leave the stadium. I'm not sure if I'll bring it in the future. Which sucks for me because I've gotten some great shots- I have DR's first TD run a couple years ago with the botched snap vs Western.

Yes, it's a new rule.

Being a photog you know that "Cameras with detachable lenses" can include a large number of relatively small cameras. My impression is that they don't want cameras with "large" lenses brought in, and are leaving it to the staff to decide.

In the future I would bring in as small as a camera/lens combo as you can manage, but don't be surprised if they go full-crack down mode in the coming games or seasons on the camera thing, just like they have done with bags, drinks, food, etc.

Also I too like the photos beneath the football photos. Hubba hubba.

EDIT

also the photo "fire from fitness competition" very nice. I would have been totally distracted by the contesttants to even think of taking that photo :) nice contrast and color.

The writing is on the wall. Over time this rule will most likely be strongly enforced. Oh well I had some good times with it. I guess it will make it asier for me when I travel back to Michigan.

I was thinking about getting those new micro four thirds. That might work for awhile.

Thanks for the photo comment. That fire shot turned out well.

Those are pretty nice shots. I'm hoping that they don't crack down on detachable lenses too much in the future. And quite frankly, I don't see what the big deal is. When I compare the shots I've gotten down on the field vs. from the stands, the ones down on the field kick the ones in the stands asses three ways to Tuesday. And quite frankly, it's not like I'm gonna go selling my pics for fear of running afoul of trademark infringement.

I remember a couple of years ago I tried to bring in the same set up to Spartan stadium when M played. The security guy said that I wasn't allowed because anyone can rig it to hide a weapon like a gun. I told him I could dissasemble it to be inspected and shoot some shots to prove I couldn't shoot anything from it. Needless to say he just flat out said I wasn't allowed with the camera. I ended walking back to the car to put the camera away so I could get into the stadium.

Shoot, you could rig a point and shoot to hide a weapon if you want. If their reasoning is other than security, you can get some decent mid range point and shoots these days. They may not be as flexible as a DSLR but they can get the job done. But having used my Canon for a while, I'm used to it and any other camera feels like a toy now.

And for comparison sake:

From the field

From fairly close to the field

From a bit higher up.

All three of these were taken with the same camera and lens but I like the first the best.

Dont' get me wrong, I like the shots I've taken from the stands and I think you can do nice shots from the stands but I don't think you're going to get anything that will sell. Anyways, I'll have my chance to get some shots from the field on Saturday....I'm so happy....

And again, your pictures look really nice, me thinks I'll need to get an f 2.8 lens one of these years. What film speed did you have your camera set at?

That would be a dream come true for me! I would love to get a press pass one day. Definitely post some shots when you get the chance. All of the shots you posted looked great I just prefer a closer perspective. I'll shoot wide on occasion to get a different look and feel myself. My ISO was at 200 at the beginning then by night time I set it at 1000. I shoot manual mode so my shutter speed was always changing depending on the lighting conditions. I lost a stop with my teleconverter but shot wide open all night.

any hi-res shots of the entire stadium for this night game... There are obviously a few on this site but they are all less than .5 megapixels, and blown up they just aren't as crisp. I'd like to make an awesome poster out of it if I could

Im going to take the pic of the stadium, large. Then add a smaller pic of me and the wifey poo, then on the bottom insert the large tix stub.

There is one of the UCONN game like this at the MDEN for 300. I would never sell mine but it just shows how cool they are.

The Mothership has one from pregame with the band on the field in the block M I might buy. Its 100 but it is certainly worth it in my opinion.
