Phillip is a 2017 OG with zero stars in major recruiting sites. He has offers from BYU, Oregon, Sparty and Michigan.

He did visit Michigan during the UNLV and Ohio State games.

Hopefully he is a real deal with a commitable offer.

My wife isn't a footbal fan but that is all she knows of Hoke, the freaking clapping and me making jokes about the van down by the river as she heard him speak.

I just always imagined him eating pizza and donuts and talking about having a great week of practice while clapping at the same time.

Great guy but horrible head coach but Thank God for Harbaugh.

Oh and fuck Dave Brandon too.

It's not that uncommon for under the radar guys who commit early. I don't think McKeon had any stars yet when he committed to us last year and I think one of the camp commits was the same way. If a recruit doesn't show up to camps or gets big time early attention, the sites lag in getting them rated. This really isn't uncommon at all.

Is this kid related to Stephen Paea from the Redskins?

If so, I taught a bunch of his cousins out in California a few years back. They were all track stars (hurdles and throwers) and were one of the big reasons our school had a string of consecutive league titles in track. The family is Tongan, and the brothers I taught were great kids and talented athletes. Our school didn't have football, but they always talked about their cousin who was playing football at Oregon State.

I bring this up, because if the young man who was offered is related, maybe he is also a great athlete, but hasn't played much football, and is just getting into the game. Harbaugh sees a supreme athlete who is just raw, but could be a bulldozer on the O-Line.

With his offer list he should be rated.  If Harbaugh and or Drevno offer with their professional experience developing linement.  He definetley should be a three star. It is all about camping.

I've had my eye on Paea for a bit. He's a very interesting prospect. He's not a new convert to football or anything, but he's still very raw. I'm beginning to think that's just par for the course for kids from Berrien Springs, because they've had some talent over the years (Michigan recruited Jhonathan Williams out of high school and as a transfer from Notre Dame) that has also been raw. Especially defensively, Paea doesn't look like he has a clue about proper technique, but he destroys people. He's a little more polished on offense.
