"Hopefully he is a real deal with a commitable offer."
Please discuss this comment.

Discuss man is back.
February 12th, 2016 at 11:21 PM ^
Likely because he hasn't participated in any underwear olympics, he has no stars.

Figured Discuss Man would chime in here since the word discuss was used.

For someone who hasn't camped, that's an interesting offer list. How in the world did a no name Michigan guy get evaluated and offered by Oregon?
February 13th, 2016 at 12:43 AM ^
Brady Hoke
February 13th, 2016 at 12:57 AM ^
It's actually three words.
Weeelllll.... Brady Hoke.
I'll clap myself out.
February 13th, 2016 at 12:41 PM ^
My wife isn't a footbal fan but that is all she knows of Hoke, the freaking clapping and me making jokes about the van down by the river as she heard him speak.
I just always imagined him eating pizza and donuts and talking about having a great week of practice while clapping at the same time.
Great guy but horrible head coach but Thank God for Harbaugh.
Oh and fuck Dave Brandon too.
February 13th, 2016 at 12:22 PM ^
Or maybe he just doesn't use a Brita water filter.
Not trying to offend anyone- I realize that there are real people with real water problems in MI.

offer list from a berrien springs kid too!
February 12th, 2016 at 11:18 PM ^
Impressive offers for a 0 star guy.
February 12th, 2016 at 11:20 PM ^
If he has zero stars but major offers, it's unlikely he's even been evaluated.
February 12th, 2016 at 11:36 PM ^
Michigan isn't exactly known for football... or any sports really. Cool that Malone Hatcher (Go Bears) is a big prospect though too out of SWM.
February 12th, 2016 at 11:43 PM ^
This is exactly the case. The sites don't ever give a rating of zero stars. Zero just means he hadn't been given a rating at all yet. We've had commits before who were "zero" stars even after committing.
February 12th, 2016 at 11:48 PM ^
as in.....?
and I'm not trying to be snarky, I just really can't see that unless they are pwo.
February 12th, 2016 at 11:56 PM ^
It means the coach has evauted the player before rivals, 247, etc have. He's just not in their database yet.
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, this was always how recruiting happened

Then there's this. Only a single 2* rating in June.

We're talking about commitments. The number of players unranked at the time of their offers is not small.
February 13th, 2016 at 2:43 AM ^
It's not that uncommon for under the radar guys who commit early. I don't think McKeon had any stars yet when he committed to us last year and I think one of the camp commits was the same way. If a recruit doesn't show up to camps or gets big time early attention, the sites lag in getting them rated. This really isn't uncommon at all.
February 13th, 2016 at 12:58 AM ^
The ratings services will catch up
February 12th, 2016 at 11:20 PM ^
They should have such thing as 1 stars. Why aren't they a thing?
February 13th, 2016 at 1:41 AM ^

February 13th, 2016 at 7:43 AM ^
A 0 star indicates that they haven't been rated. A 1star means that they have been rated and they're not that good.
February 13th, 2016 at 8:29 AM ^
1 star would mean 'Can smash regular humans, Super humans will always get the better of'
February 12th, 2016 at 11:23 PM ^
Beilein was finding that trying to recruit 2-stars had even become too much work
(i kid)
February 13th, 2016 at 9:55 AM ^
If you are going to take a shot at Beilein and his recruiting of under the radar prospects, you might want to think of changing your avatar Mr Novak.

I like to think his last name is pronounced as "paella"

I love paella! interesting Oregon and BYU showing some interest early, in addition to B1G schools. 6'4 270, looks smaller than that in the profile pic though.

Zero stars, Jerry! Zero stars! Zero stars! Zero stars!
February 12th, 2016 at 11:49 PM ^
Is this kid related to Stephen Paea from the Redskins?
If so, I taught a bunch of his cousins out in California a few years back. They were all track stars (hurdles and throwers) and were one of the big reasons our school had a string of consecutive league titles in track. The family is Tongan, and the brothers I taught were great kids and talented athletes. Our school didn't have football, but they always talked about their cousin who was playing football at Oregon State.
I bring this up, because if the young man who was offered is related, maybe he is also a great athlete, but hasn't played much football, and is just getting into the game. Harbaugh sees a supreme athlete who is just raw, but could be a bulldozer on the O-Line.
February 12th, 2016 at 11:55 PM ^
Looks like Tongan to me.
February 13th, 2016 at 7:49 AM ^
Also that picture makes it look like he hangs out at the half pipe.
February 13th, 2016 at 1:52 AM ^
I immediately thought of Stephen Paea too, but I can't find anything online connecting him to the state of Michigan.
February 13th, 2016 at 5:33 AM ^
I don't know but he played for the Bears for 4 years.
February 12th, 2016 at 11:54 PM ^
and MSU, Michigan, Oregon, and BYU offers are not indicative of an unranked guy. Should probably be in 3* range at minimum
February 13th, 2016 at 12:20 AM ^
It will be interesting to see where he gets ranked to start. With the quality of early offers he has, it sure seems like he might be a high 3-star at minimum. I have a feeling though, that the services will bide their time in properly rating him, to avoid giving the immediate impression that they just missed him.
February 13th, 2016 at 12:21 AM ^
With his offer list he should be rated. If Harbaugh and or Drevno offer with their professional experience developing linement. He definetley should be a three star. It is all about camping.
February 13th, 2016 at 12:31 AM ^
JaRaymond Hall is already committed and Jordan Reid out of Cass Tech was offered a while ago. Must be a good year for offensive lineman in Michigan.
February 13th, 2016 at 5:22 AM ^
We offered four in-state lineman that I can think of in the 2016 class:
- Michael Onwenu (Michigan)
- Cameron Kolwich (Northwestern)
- Michael Jordan (Ohio State)
- Alaric Jackson (Iowa)
February 13th, 2016 at 11:20 AM ^
Did we officially offer Jackson?

I'm not sure if he got NLI paperwork, but Michigan reportedly offered him on the Monday before National Signing Day.

February 13th, 2016 at 5:32 AM ^
I've had my eye on Paea for a bit. He's a very interesting prospect. He's not a new convert to football or anything, but he's still very raw. I'm beginning to think that's just par for the course for kids from Berrien Springs, because they've had some talent over the years (Michigan recruited Jhonathan Williams out of high school and as a transfer from Notre Dame) that has also been raw. Especially defensively, Paea doesn't look like he has a clue about proper technique, but he destroys people. He's a little more polished on offense.
