Charles Drake
Dang...he was still young. He was probably about 30. That's sad.
I did a Google search for news on his death, but I couldn't find anything. It did turn up a hit on Youtube of some Charles Drake high school highlights. At least I'm assuming it's the same Charles Drake, but he was around before the internet really hit its stride:
Did he ever play?
Starting strong safety for two years between Patmon and Shazor (2001-02 - though Bentley has him mixed with LeSeuer here). One of my fraternity brothers worked with the team and thought Drake was the funniest kid on the team, said Drake was a "fellow hood rat" (in context, not a bad thing--referring to his SoCali tastes and tongue).
Condolences to his family and memories of his time at the Big House.
A friend of mine from high school was on the U of M track team, and they were good friends.
Did you happen to get the scoop on how he passed? Seems too young for anything natural....
to see if she releases any details. I didn't wanna be pestering her for details at a time like this. All she said this morning was that they were close, and she brought him home for meals and for church on several occcasions.
