So we have the best QB in the Big Ten according to Steele (and the best in the country according to Rivals), but that's not enough to convince much of our fanbase that he should play.

I hope there are no people who actually think he shouldn't play.  That's insane.

Its reasonable to think he shouldn't be our QB, if we can get DR the ball in other ways that make sense; Tate has shown he is still a very good passer.  I fantasize about running two qb's at the same time.  Imagine a read option where both runners also have a pass option.  SICK!

Again I refer you to the above-cited All-America rankings.  Do you normally feel that All-America candidates should switch positions?

Denard Robinson not only has rushed for 1,096 yards in seven games (stop and think about that - that's remarkable in and of itself), he also has one of the highest passer ratings in school history.  Chad Henne never recorded a rating anywhere near Denard's current 159.1 .  Our offense allows this incredible dual-threat player to have the ball in his hands every play.  You are calling for him to have the ball less often than that.  That is not a reasonable suggestion.

There's probably like 2 people who think he shouldn't play.  The people who think Tate should get a chance aren't saying Denard shouldn't play they are just saying that if Denard is having an off day or it's quite clear the D has his number what's the point in not giving Tate a go at it?  We did that against MSU (left Tate on the bench) and conceeded defeat and then against Iowa we were forced to give it a shot and we were 1 or 2 shoestrings away from a potential tieing scoring drive making for a very exciting finish in what was another throw away game just 10 or 15 mins prior.  No one is saying Denard is bad (ok, well, no sane person) or that he shouldn't be the starter but we're still talking about 18, 19 and 20 year old kids who are susceptible to having a bad game.  All that the sane people are asking for is if/when Denard is having a bad game and we're out of it what's the harm in putting a kid who's only 2nd string because 1st string is made of dilithium?  Hate on Tate all you want but the kid is a starter at probably 90 Div I schools (if not more?) right now and we've got him sitting on our bench.  We just want ALL the talent on the team to be utilized to help us win games since, ultimately, that's what matters (and that's why some people want to see Tate get some more time because we've lost the last two games, if we were 7-0 nobody would say anything...)

1) I think Denard is as awesome as the next but we're half way through the season - there are no All-Americans until the end of the season when, ya know, they actually hand out those awards

2) WTF is wrong with recognizing the kid is having an off day?  Are you so concerned about his mental ability to handle sitting on the bench when he's having a sh!t game? Seriously???

3) This is only an issue because our D sucks - if it didn't suck so much we wouldn't be in the position of being down 3 TD's in the 4th quarter.

4) As mentioned in the title - the 4th quarter isn't a slow start.  Where did I say "off to a slow start"?  Right, I didn't...

So, really, you're going to sit there and say down 3 TD's in the 4th quarter when everybody dead and alive knows you're going to be doing nothing but throwing the ball you'd rather have Denard than Tate?  If that's true I want some of whatever it is that you're drinking...  Denard starts and stays in until 1) we're beating the shit out of the other team or 2) the other team is beating the shit out of us.  Unless of course you're "that guy" that screams about wanting the starters to stay in a basketball game down 30 w/ 5 mins left.

on Denard. I'm not saying he shouldn't be there but I would have thought it would be Stanzi or Pryor dues to the teams success. Again, don't neg me, I don't disagree, it just seems that a lot of the time the best player isn't on the first time. This time he is.

Remember the freak out, woe are us threads from the summer because none of our guys were really on any of Steele's preseason teams?

This might be considered a sign of progress, at least to the sane folks on this board

I don't have time to look it up but I remember a few picks here and there. Not to put him down but Tate is out of control a lot of the time. There is no debate if you honestly want to win.

dont get me wrong, i love denard and tate equally. But i think there is a reason to debate who the qb should be. the last 2 games have proved that denard is not as developed as a passer as we all thought. In my opinion, the offense looked much more balanced and complete with Tate in. With all this said, I look forward to the QB competition for a while here

I'm Phil Steele. I'm the greatest!  To prove it, here are 2 sentences about this year and 40 pages about my predictions from the past....
