Pharaoh Brown the WR

Submitted by chris1709 on

theres a article on rivals that is premium content, but it basically just says Pharaoh Brown was very good as a WR at 7 on 7. Maybe Hoke is thinking of giving him a look on offense ?

type player but I'm still having a hard time projecting where these defensive kids will land in the over-under because they're all so similar in size. We won't know where they'll end up for 2 years in some cases.

I can't say I have any idea how 7-7 translates to actual football, but I did read earlier that he was going to be playing TE for his team this year. So, I am not sure where he could end up but I definitly like his versatility if we need him to fill a spot at some point.

It typically doesn't translate all that well. If the accomplishments of HS players translated to college, Michigan would not have had such a crappy past three years. 7-7 is just a way to showcase players in a controlled environment but one that, unfortunately, doesn't mimic college ball.

Called him a tight end, so I'm guessing he has decent hands.  But none of the premium sites have  a 40 time for him, so I can only guess at his speed.  However, if he has decent speed and good hands he probably could be a solid TE (he may be a little big for a WR though, but it'd be pretty awesome if a guy that big could, that's like Calvin Johnson size.)

The more I watch his highlight reel the more I think he's just going to be a great player, no matter what position he plays. He has incredible athletic ability and a motor to match. He definitely has that deceptive long strider kind of speed.

I like him at WDE but if we don't get 2 WR in this class and don't sign Thompson we might need Brown on O more than D.

I actually believe he will make the greatest impact by the time he graduates from Michigan of all the DL they will get this year .  If they get Washington, Pipkins and O'neil, and with the other guys they already have, I think Brown (based on watching his videos) will be the best and has the best chance of playing at the highest level (NFL).  But, I would be dead wrong if he ends up playing as a WR.

The TE/DE hybrid is pretty common for high school, so it's not surprising that Brown has experience on Offense. However, unless Hoke is about to harken back to the early to mid 20th century (players on both Off and Def), I doubt Brown will play TE or WR.

I wouldn't mind seeing Brown end up at TE, but WR is a stretch, in my opinion.  People like to compare all big receivers to Calvin Johnson, but the thing about Johnson is that he's also REALLY fast in addition to being huge.  Brown has good speed for a guy his size, but he's not going to run away from cornerbacks like Johnson can.

If you actually read that article, you'd see that he explicitly said that he has no interest in playing offense at Michigan, and that if he wanted to play WR, he probably would have looked at different schools.
