Sounds about right

A No Fly Zone, folks. This is not a drill.

gave up about 50 yards and 3.5 points more than the Michigan defense this year.
I was just eyeballing, not exact figures. Just from what I saw, Doc Brown is putting up gaudier numbers than Narduzzi.
and this is only his first year.

Of players we're hauling in vs. what Narduzzi or Brown at BC had are, well, you know. Gonna be a fun time with Don Brown around.

Don Brown also walked into having a 1st round CB, very good CBs in Stribling and Clark, and Jabrill Peppers, along with solid safeties in Dymonte and Delano. Not like he walked into a rebuilding situation here

It's nice to have 5-star coaching to go along with 5-star talent. Underperforming defenses are a frustration that is being addressed with this staff. If Brown wasn't getting these results, it would be surprising.

Doc Brown managed 1.21 gigawatts and ain't nobody gonna beat that.
October 24th, 2016 at 10:55 AM ^
What the hell is a gigawatt??

+1 self-aware. ;-)

With those stats, it sounds like "Throwing at Lewis or Stribling" could be MSU's starting QB.

*wild applause*

It's such a luxury having our DBs. On the off chance our DL doesn't get pressure and an intermediate/deep ball gets thrown, the sense of panic I normally feel before the camera pans downfield just isn't there anymore.

Really hope stribling gets a chance in the league. He's still improving too
October 24th, 2016 at 10:22 AM ^
Stribling should get more accolades than he does, because he's constantly being "picked on" by opposing teams (rightfully) terrified on Lewis. He has really stepped up his game this year and - as you note - seems to improve tangibly from week to week.
October 24th, 2016 at 10:27 AM ^
Absent an injury, Stribling will be in the league. Size and skills will give him that shot ... and his game speed is plenty sufficient.
How he tests on things like the 40 will likely disprapotionately influence which round he goes in. But he's put up plenty of data at this point to almost certainly be drafted.
October 24th, 2016 at 10:33 AM ^
At this rate, he'll get drafted. Will he be a Day 1 guy? Doubt it. A Day 2 guy? Possibly. But he will get drafted.
He's played exceptionally well, and he has quite a bit of data to go by. No one is throwing Jourdan Lewis' way, so when an opposing team does decide to throw on us, it's usually to Stribling's side of the field. And he's delivered.
He has the size and frame that the NFL is looking for, so if he keeps getting better, he can make himself into a late Day 2, or very early Day 3 prospect.

this D is unreal. I'm so excited for the remainder of the season. High hopes!
October 24th, 2016 at 10:48 AM ^
DL is certainly helping that!
October 24th, 2016 at 11:14 AM ^
Such a reputable D makes OCs think it foolish to run, so they try to throw, playing right into the strengths--pass rush and lockdown coverage.

I was on the fence for a while but I now believe pretty strongly that this defense is superior to 97's. I was a jr that year and will always have nothing but love for that team and that D but this d is more polished, much deeper and more athletic. The 97 D really relied on some big turnovers and INTs from Woodson but this team hasn't really even needed those types of game changing plays because they are literally never in trouble. Just completely overwhelming from the jump.

:D A solid, shut-yo-ass down D makes me smile huge. It has to be psychological warfare, not getting 1yd passing in a half or to have a total of 39yds in a game.
October 24th, 2016 at 11:25 AM ^
I figured that the QBR regarding Stribling and Lewis would have been pretty low, but I guess I didn't fully realize how low it would be. That's impressive and a half.
Although, now that I think about it, I guess it isn't too shocking when you look at other measures though - that S&P+ Success Rate, for example, is 18.5%. That's not a typo at all - offenses are only getting necessary yardage on downs 18.5% of the time against Michigan. Unreal indeed.
October 24th, 2016 at 11:37 AM ^
Lewis was beat first play of the game. He's playing well, but we will need of last year's MSU performance to beat OSU.
October 24th, 2016 at 12:46 PM ^
I was looking at stats around halftime and George Jr's passer rating was -28.6. I didn't even know it could be negative

Funny you brought that up because I said the exact same thing when I saw that. My wife actually felt bad for him and asked me why "they" (who "they" are I don't know) thought it was fair he had to play his first game against Michigan.

The DL helps the secondary and the secondary helps the DL. Don Brown will sleep like a baby Saturday night.
