personnel+coaching+execution=winning

...and we've been losing. So why are we losing? Many people insinuate that coaching is the reason we are losing, and so we should entertain the idea of firing RR. But these people fail to realize that our personnel is not capable of being a great team yet. Usually this can also be blamed on the head coach for not recruiting the right personnel and then developing them into good players, but in only his second year, RR cannot be blamed for not having the right personnel. Coaching does influence execution, but in the end it is the players who have to make plays to win games. The coach cannot be blamed every time a freshman doesn't execute the way he should.

We have 89 underclassmen on the roster, which means we have to execute flawlessly in order to beat good teams. In 2 years, we will have 89 upperclassmen on the roster, and we won't have to execute flawlessly to win, but we will execute better because we'll have more experience. Until then, be patient my friends, because RR is building the type of program that will be to compete with the best teams in the nation (unlike the rest of the Big 10).

89 underclassmen. Be patient!

good point, but that still doesn't explain one thing....

Why can't we just hold on to the %$#$%# ball? Is it just young players? I think are definitely a few coaching issues too. Our players are not protecting the ball very well.

I can't stop watching football

I wish there was a way to teach this simple aspect to the game but there isn't a whole lot other than being strong and smart when holding on to the ball. That's what I loved about Carr, if you can't hold on to the ball, you don't play (i.e. kevin grady his first 2 years). There was no need for teaching. RRod unfortunately doesn't have that luxury yet seeing as all of our skill guys are having problems holding on to the ball.

Yes, I think that is all a

Yes, I think that is all a matter of depth. Soon enough (a few years, but not that long) he'll be able to bench a 4 or 5 star for having the case of the dropsies. Right not, our only serviceable unit thinks it's fine to run around still palming the ball. Hold the ball tight against the body tucked into the elbow? nah that ain't making plays baby

I know from experience dude. If you know what I mean.

IMO Personnel + coaching^2 +

IMO

Personnel + coaching^2 + execution^3 = winning

Warning: A =) is a sarcastic or joke filled post. (Its pretty much the happiest smiley out there, I have been told) Despite being a ND fan I do have a sense of humor

Hmmm

That's tough. I feel like Personnel (which I interpret basically as good recruits) should be pretty important. At first I was going to disagree about execution but that is exactly what kills USC once a year (this year Washington, NOT Oregon) so that is probably the most important part.

Maybe

Personnel^2 + Coaching + Execution^3 = Winning

1. Luck

and

2. Money (to pay the refs)

and then there is always the additional

3. Hot cheerleaders. Just because.
