Why did you apply if you weren't planning to ever attend? Don't get me wrong, Whoo and all that, but DG got a letter because he is awesome. Unless you are the lawyer equivalent of DG at football, I'm not clear.

I got mail from Sparty before I started applying.  They sent me an application fee waiver or something promotional.  So it might not be a waste of money.

Edit: this was supposed to be a reply to Blazefire above.

Ha! I got one of those too.  "we want to wish you the best of luck during your upcoming application cycle and hope that you consider MSU law as a possible destination." Or some crap like that.

Wish I could have done the same to my MSU Law letter.  Unfortunately, I'm now a 1L at MSU.  It's a daily reminder that I should have studied harder during my time at Michigan.  I still consider it a private school that just shares the MSU name and resources, as do many others.  I also tell myself that despite the 'MSU' name attached to it, it is still a decent school.  Not everyone can get into Michigan Law, and for those that don't but want to stay in the state of Michigan, MSU Law ≥ Wayne State, and for me, Okemos > Detroit.

Of course Okemos>Detroit.  All Detroit has is the Red Wings, Tigers, Lions, their various stadiums, a bunch of restaurants, the DSO, and a couple of colleges.  Meanwhile, Okemos has, uh.... uh.... uh......

Well, Okemos is still > Detroit.

I suppose I should clarify; living in Okemos > commuting to Detroit for class every day.  Most WSU law students, according to their Student Affairs office, drive 20-40 minutes to school each day from the surrounding suburbs, as decent housing nearby can be expensive/difficult to find.  So in that regard, Okemos was more appealing than Detroit.

As far as MSU law ≥ Wayne, I guess it depends on who you ask.  After doing a good deal of research, visiting both schools, and talking to alums, I got the impression that MSU was at least as good as Wayne, and continuing to Improve.  MSU did have the highest Michigan Bar passage rate out of all the Michigan schools this past summer, fwiw.  Plus, over half of my Professors this semester are Michigan and Michigan Law graduates themselves, so it can't be all bad, right?

When applying for my residency, I applied to OSU among many other places (around 65).  I got an interview offer from them, scheduled it, then never showed up for it.  Not exactly a professional thing to do, but oh well :)

i sent Braxton Miller a $1,000 check with a letter expressing my interest in representing him in negotiations with the NFL once he leaves OSU.  If he cashes it, we're golden in 2012!
