Peppers taking reps on offense, knows playbook

Submitted by MichiganMan1999 on

Mods delete if this is common knowledge. I received a text from a current player saying, "He (Peppers) was taking reps at slot during player led practice, knew all the plays. He wouldn't know all the plays unless he was told to do so... So take that however you want".

This was exciting for me to hear, gave me a whole Woodson vibe. Again, if this is already known and i'm late to the party please don't harass me too much and mods delete.

Our offense needs that Peppy Pep. I love this idea--seems very Harbaughian since he showed the willingness to get guys playing on both sides of the ball at Stanford. And we do have an unfortunate lack of explosive skill position players at wr. Go out and get that Heisman, kid!

as much as reasonably possible.  I thought special teams (returning kicks) would be the most logical in addition to safety.  But, heck, slot receiver works too.  Even if they put him in on offensive plays and he doesn't get the ball, he can be a real asset as a diversion.  Defenses will have to adjust and put someone on him.

We had Woodson, Russell Shaw, Tai Streets, and Marcus Knight as primary WRs.

I feel like our current WRs compare well to this group with Darboh being maybe a notch behind Streets and the bevy of other guys on our roster filling in as Knight and Shaw. Actually, our current WRs may be slightly better as a whole (Canteen, Darboh, Chesson, Cole, Ways, etc). Throw Peppers in there and we have a very solid group.
This does not give me pause.

Our current group has a lot of potential, but no results as of yet. Of course, Canteen, Cole, and Ways haven't played significant snaps yet, nor have they had a proper QB throwing to them so it's really hard to compare. Nor have we had an O-line that can properly protect a QB recently, so yeah... there's a whole lot of factors that go into these things. Sorry about being a debbie downer. I'm very excited about Peppers taking snaps at offense but I don't think the results of these practice will really show until next year or 2 years from now.

Good news!!

You won't see the likes of Denard sitting on the sideline in the 2nd half against OSU (put him in slot or wherever & get him the ball in open space) ...with JH at the helm

It was talked about roundly last year, but I really do want to see what Peppers can do on offense as well. If he is getting evaluated and getting time on both sides of the ball, to me that speaks to the sort of player that they think he can be, a difference-maker no matter where he is. As someone said, even if he is lined up as a WR and you don't throw to him, a DC will likely assume you're thinking about it and use someone on him.

For your 21st bday give yourself a Wiki page.  I will say it's impressive to see someone this devoted to our team who wasn't old enough to remember when we were dominant.  Most of WD's M cognizant football experience has been the misery of the last few Carr years, RR and Hoke.  Bless this kid for such devotion.  I'm scared to think what might happen when we actually get back to being beasts again.  As long as you don't end up like these two all should be fine:
