Peppers role on offense moving forward

Submitted by Real and Spectacular on
I'm really excited to see how we incorporate Jabrill on offense the rest of the season. I was surprised he played as much as he did against Rutgers on offense because I assumed we wanted to keep him off film. But since I know Harbaugh is so calculated in everything he does, I wonder if he deliberately put offensive plays involving Jabrill on film as a set up, and will design plays that break tendency off of what he did before. We have a rare offensive talent that likely won't around after this season, and I think Harbaugh knows he has to take advantage of that. I'd put the odds at better than 50% that he throws a TD pass this year and I would bet he ends up with more than 600 yards rushing/receiving.

I think he will play both ways the entire second half vs OSU, or at the very least will be on offense every time we get into the red zone in that or any close game.

They never huddle, but they only play crazy fast when it's to their advantage to not allow substitutions. Won't be able to do that against our personnel and they won't be able to make pre snap reads against Browns freaky fronts and disguised pressures and coverages. I hope we bait Barrett into three picks.

I think they should never play him on offense. Then there will never, ever be film on him. But the fear...oh, the fear of the unknown will be...murderous...to our enemies...

The thing about rare talent is, the other team could 100% know what's coming and still be powerless to stop it. Unleash Jabrill and let him make miracles.

Also, Jabrill just graded himself a "C-minus" tonight. Our opponents have to shudder to think what his "A" game might be.

I think it is fairly obvious Harbaugh would love to get Peppers the Heisman. He will be put Jabrill in position to make plays to get him more and more exposure as the year continues. Judiciously of course.

Right cause he's not producing at like 8 other positions and getting Housman hype? We have 4 very productive backs. He's more useful as a wildcard offensive weapon anyway. At QB and then split out wide or in motion in the backfield. are you kidding me? That can't be defended. Way more offensively potent and versatile, to say nothing of his game changing talent at the nickel/hybrid space backer role. But sure make him a standard RB so he can run power on early downs into stacked boxes and block blitzing linebackers all day. You should write to the staff with this innovative thinking.

I would like to see Peppers a lot on offense against Staee. If Michigan is going to win they need to put the game far out of reach unlike last year. I doubt Michigan will need Peppers on offense to beat Maryland. Just give him a reduced role in that game.

I would prefer to not see him on offense at all during the MSU game. 1) That means we are kicking their sorry asses without him (that will happen) 2) Since we won't need him on offense against MSU, save it for OSU.

Get him in early and often. Their plays, coaches and fans have talked a lot over the last few years. Time to bring the pain.
Sure we can beat them easily without him on offense. But why not let him make them look really bad. It will get more film out their fir other teams to prepare for, slmething harbaugh loves. And there is an added bonus of really sticking it to their fans for calling him the most overrated player ever.

If I had to guess, he'll see at least a few touches in every game remaining (counting touches as a carry, reception, or pass attempt, but not as a wildcat QB where he hands the ball off).

If I had to make predictions, I'd say he'll get 3-5 touches in all the remaining home games, 7-10 against MSU and Iowa, and ~15 against OSU

I think it is highly unlikely that Peppers gets 15 offensive touches in any game if you discount his handoffs. Michigan averages 75 plays per game, which would mean 20% of the plays would go to him. He would have to play nearly 50% of snaps to get that many touches and still have it be effective (can't get it every time or the defense just keys on you).

I think 8-10 touches is a more reasonable expectation.

Perfect screen name for a thread on how Jabrill sees the field against OSU.

As Brian said in one of the recent podcasts, Peppers' clearest route to the Heisman involves having a Tom Harmon game against OSU.

(OK, I don't see him playing 58 minutes, but if he can rack up Harmon numbers with 40 minutes, even better!)

I say run him and get him in full game shape for the suckeyes. Run the most basic of basic and let the opponents try and stop it. There isn't a defense remaining on their schedule that can stop him. Wildcat offense all day baby! TKO! Need to split him out wide and see where the defense plays him. There is no way you can stop him on a bubble screen. Have Darboh or Chesson out there paving the way and it's lights out. Split him out wide with 3 wide receiver sets and power run the opposite way all day. You know that set takes 4 defenders out of the play right off the bat. That leaves 3 on the second level after the d-line. Boom goes the dynamite.
