Peppers role on offense moving forward
October 18th, 2016 at 9:29 PM ^
I think he will play both ways the entire second half vs OSU, or at the very least will be on offense every time we get into the red zone in that or any close game.

If he can really handle it, absolutely. At the same time OSU plays fast so there will be a lot of snaps. He'll be critical to wreaking havoc on OSU's spread running game

They never huddle, but they only play crazy fast when it's to their advantage to not allow substitutions. Won't be able to do that against our personnel and they won't be able to make pre snap reads against Browns freaky fronts and disguised pressures and coverages. I hope we bait Barrett into three picks.

It will be silly to play him at all in the second half against OSU. By that point we'll be resting him for the BTCG.
October 19th, 2016 at 9:01 AM ^
Even if we're up by 50 in the Game at halftime we shouldn't let off the gas. One because of history obviously. Two because I'm scared of them putting up 51 after adjustments.
October 18th, 2016 at 9:30 PM ^
I think they should never play him on offense. Then there will never, ever be film on him. But the fear...oh, the fear of the unknown will be...murderous...to our enemies...
October 18th, 2016 at 11:46 PM ^
No way. Prep time is very limited in college football. Put a ton on film and let them decide what of it they think they can prepare for.
October 18th, 2016 at 9:32 PM ^
The thing about rare talent is, the other team could 100% know what's coming and still be powerless to stop it. Unleash Jabrill and let him make miracles.
Also, Jabrill just graded himself a "C-minus" tonight. Our opponents have to shudder to think what his "A" game might be.
October 18th, 2016 at 9:57 PM ^
It scares me like what if he can defy gravity and just levitate into end zones..
October 18th, 2016 at 10:34 PM ^
So basically you're saying that Harbaugh should use Peppers the way Borges SHOULD have used Denard against OSU in 2012?
October 19th, 2016 at 11:23 AM ^
we should use him like denard in 2011 for the osu game. ever damn snap wildcat.
October 20th, 2016 at 6:23 AM ^
I think he is more valuable to the offense then the D. Less snaps on D more offensive snaps. Your D has plenty of playmakers.
October 18th, 2016 at 9:31 PM ^
I just want him to score TDs against State and Ohio State. Make them beg for mercy.

Yeah this is 100% the reason he was featured so much. I remember saying "oh yeah, and he's from Jersey. He's going to play a lot tonight" to my sister a few minutes into the game.
October 18th, 2016 at 10:36 PM ^
But yeah it was great to see. He's scoring on 2/3 of his runs this year!
October 19th, 2016 at 10:06 AM ^
I have to imagine the motive being--at least in part--recruiting.

Also Rutgers was before a bye week, so we could use him a little more and let him rest up in the bye week.
October 18th, 2016 at 9:35 PM ^
I think it is fairly obvious Harbaugh would love to get Peppers the Heisman. He will be put Jabrill in position to make plays to get him more and more exposure as the year continues. Judiciously of course.
October 18th, 2016 at 9:35 PM ^
Should have had him playing RB from day one.

Right cause he's not producing at like 8 other positions and getting Housman hype? We have 4 very productive backs. He's more useful as a wildcard offensive weapon anyway. At QB and then split out wide or in motion in the backfield. are you kidding me? That can't be defended. Way more offensively potent and versatile, to say nothing of his game changing talent at the nickel/hybrid space backer role. But sure make him a standard RB so he can run power on early downs into stacked boxes and block blitzing linebackers all day. You should write to the staff with this innovative thinking.
October 19th, 2016 at 6:59 AM ^
Not just anyone can get Housman hype
October 19th, 2016 at 2:16 PM ^
I heard A.E Housman's Dad remarried after his wife died, to an elder cousin. That's crazy hype there.
October 19th, 2016 at 9:05 AM ^
Evans is a capable Peppers-analogue at RB and doesn't destroy our season if he gets injured or even just "dinged up" as running backs do over the course of a season. Which game specifically has gone poorly such that Peppers at RB would have helped enough to offset the injury risk?
October 19th, 2016 at 9:10 AM ^
There was a series versus CU when trailing badly, the offense came out empty-set and ran Peppers twice, along with McDoom. Similar to the Rutgers game, it seems when the offense needs a spark they put the ball in Peppers' hands.
October 18th, 2016 at 9:39 PM ^
I would like to see Peppers a lot on offense against Staee. If Michigan is going to win they need to put the game far out of reach unlike last year. I doubt Michigan will need Peppers on offense to beat Maryland. Just give him a reduced role in that game.
October 18th, 2016 at 9:45 PM ^
I would prefer to not see him on offense at all during the MSU game. 1) That means we are kicking their sorry asses without him (that will happen) 2) Since we won't need him on offense against MSU, save it for OSU.
October 18th, 2016 at 10:00 PM ^
Sorry after watching last year I wana see him beat state 232893273728937498273498172398172- neagtive 1

Get him in early and often. Their plays, coaches and fans have talked a lot over the last few years. Time to bring the pain.
Sure we can beat them easily without him on offense. But why not let him make them look really bad. It will get more film out their fir other teams to prepare for, slmething harbaugh loves. And there is an added bonus of really sticking it to their fans for calling him the most overrated player ever.

Recent history shows MSU is not above using thuggery to knock out our best player.
October 18th, 2016 at 9:49 PM ^
If I had to guess, he'll see at least a few touches in every game remaining (counting touches as a carry, reception, or pass attempt, but not as a wildcat QB where he hands the ball off).
If I had to make predictions, I'd say he'll get 3-5 touches in all the remaining home games, 7-10 against MSU and Iowa, and ~15 against OSU

I think it is highly unlikely that Peppers gets 15 offensive touches in any game if you discount his handoffs. Michigan averages 75 plays per game, which would mean 20% of the plays would go to him. He would have to play nearly 50% of snaps to get that many touches and still have it be effective (can't get it every time or the defense just keys on you).
I think 8-10 touches is a more reasonable expectation.
October 19th, 2016 at 11:19 AM ^
Perfect screen name for a thread on how Jabrill sees the field against OSU.
As Brian said in one of the recent podcasts, Peppers' clearest route to the Heisman involves having a Tom Harmon game against OSU.
(OK, I don't see him playing 58 minutes, but if he can rack up Harmon numbers with 40 minutes, even better!)
October 19th, 2016 at 11:48 AM ^
He gets a few more touches in the game against IU, perhaps out of necessity, since they're easily the best team on the remaining home schedule, but also because, let's face it, it will probably be his final home game and he and Coach Harbaugh will want to go out on a high at home.

I say run him and get him in full game shape for the suckeyes. Run the most basic of basic and let the opponents try and stop it. There isn't a defense remaining on their schedule that can stop him. Wildcat offense all day baby! TKO! Need to split him out wide and see where the defense plays him. There is no way you can stop him on a bubble screen. Have Darboh or Chesson out there paving the way and it's lights out. Split him out wide with 3 wide receiver sets and power run the opposite way all day. You know that set takes 4 defenders out of the play right off the bat. That leaves 3 on the second level after the d-line. Boom goes the dynamite.
October 18th, 2016 at 9:55 PM ^
sprints right and hands the ball to Shane on a reverse. Peppers sprints down the right sideline and Shane hits him with the deep ball.
