Peppers? Lost in the carnage.
With the steady stream of threads desiring to bomb the athletic department back to the stone age and the wish to go medieval on certain people, we seem to have glossed over an issue that came out of the Minnesota game.
What is going on with Jabrill Peppers? He was not on the field for the game and when asked about it afterwards, Brady said that he was in the locker room receiving treatment.
I have heard rumors ranging from "teaching him a lesson" to "serious injury". Desmond Howard's take from viewing a practice is that Peppers was the only player on the team who appeared to want to be great.
Does anyone have an update on his status?

And we know that from... Recruiting tape? Seriously, he's played so sparingly, this hype is almost entirely constructed by impossible expectations from people far too obsessed about watching high school kids play football for 'crootin stars.

But let's not lie about it - he's by far been the most physical corner on the roster thus far. He's also been tested about five times and won four of them. I'd take 80% from a freshman that loves to hit people any day.

I hope I am wrong, but think Peppers will transfer.

It seems like once a week or so I feel the need to ask someone HOW THE FUCK ARE YOU STILL HERE?

We may be heading for a period where there's less emphasis on falling all over these top recruits and more on developing the current players and program to where they should be.

current players are only current players for so long. their ranks dont magically refill.

I didn't say that was preferred, we may have no choice for a while if we can't realistically pull them in. We can also focus on a few recruits with maybe fewer stars but more potential to grow into the kind of player we need, ala Beilein

Regardless of whether or not Jabrill Peppers appears to be healthy enough to play on Saturday night against Rutgers, it might be a mistake for the coaching staff to leave him in Ann Arbor, even if he's hobbling around on crutches.
Saturday will be Jabrill Peppers' 19th birthday. I'd expect that several of his friends and family members will want to be at the game. Also, on the Rutgers team are players he'll probably know from his first two high school seasons at Don Bosco Prep (QB Gary Nova, WR Leonte Caroo and DL Darius Hamilton.)
Unfortunately for him, his former coaches and teammates at Paramus Catholic High School are scheduled to play at 4:00 PM on Saturday at Bergen Catholic High School (nore than an hour's drive from Piscataway), so it might be tough for many of them to make it to Rutgers for the start of Michigan's game.
