I like the legends jersey idea and I think more importantly the kids like them.  Especially the top end kids - they are competitive by nature and dangling that bone in front of them seems to be a part of the soup that draws them in.

The downside to the legends jersey is it no longer allows new legend jerseys.  If the next superstar is #4 or #83 or whatever, he will never get a chance to get that # to be legendary since by his 3rd or 4th year he will onto his legend jersey.

But again these are first world problems.

Well, for a WR like him that shouldn't be too much of a revelation, he can stretch the field and... oh, he's not a WR you say?  My interest grows...

Just so everybody knows, this is a photoshopped picture and shouldn't be believed to actually have been sent to Mr. Peppers by Mississippi State.  I know some of you thought the previous ones were real but I assure you this one isn't as well.

As another interesting reference, Joe Staley, the 49ers starting left tackle, ran a 21.40 200m in high school at Rockford. He took second in the state, in d1. He was a year behind me and I ran against him often (though usually a bit behind him).

He was just as tall but not nearly as heavy, I think he only weighed 210-220 or so, and was recruited as a speedy TE. Then he bulked up like mad in college and is now a freakishly athletic OT. I ran in the high 22s in the 200. I was good, but not elite like these guys.

I'm having a hard time with that. I know top-end speed is only part of the equation, but that is fast - really fast. I look forward to seeing him, Michigan is where he needs to be.

200 meters is more than two full football fields long (218 yards).  It's not just a measure of speed but also your ability to maintain your top speed for some time.  Sprinters typically hit their top speed around the 60-meter mark or so, so in the 200 you've got to hang on for awhile after that.

That kind of gap at a state meet is unreal.

That time is pushing hard on Woolfolk the Elder's 33 year old Michigan Record for the Outdoor 200.

Is there any risk Rutgers makes a move now that they're a serious player and in the Big Ten?  Delaney said he thinks they can become a real powerhouse and that.... HAHAH kidding... kidding...
