Pep Rally - Friday, 6 p.m., Diag

Submitted by genericmichiganfan on

Here's the pertinent info:

The University of Michigan football team will host a preseason pep rally this Friday (Sept. 3) at the Diag on central campus, just hours before the 2010 season kicks off against Connecticut inside the newly renovated Michigan Stadium. The event, which is free and open to the public, will start at 6 p.m. and last approximately one hour.

Featured speakers will include head coach Rich Rodriguez, director of athletics Dave Brandon, a...nd season captains Stephen Schilling and Mark Moundros. In addition, the Michigan cheer and dance teams will be on hand to perform.

Come early for some special giveaways, contests, and events for both students and other fans alike! This pep rally will be one of the last things the team remembers before they suit up for game day, so let's make sure to support them! Please invite everyone you know.

Information I got through the Office of New Student Progams left me with this:

Maize Craze - Friday, September 3, 4-6:30pm, Palmer Field

You're not a Michigan Student until you experience Maize Craze! An outdoor pep rally before for our first football game is guaranteed to be a good time! Come out and listen to the Marching Band, meet athletic coaches, participate in different activities, win prizes and eat dinner all at the same place! See you there.

They say Palmer Field, this says Diag. I have heard talks of it starting at Palmer and then migrating to the diag, is this how it goes? Sorry for being such a freshman....

Maize Craze is a pep rally in the most general of sorts, and there will probably be some assorted atheletes and coaches there. It's really a bunch of free food and random other crap that they give away, some of it sponsored, some from the university, and others.

The Diag pep rally will be game/season specific and will be a football only pep rally. It should also be significantly less annoying than Maize Craze,
