For people outside .US; was ESPN streaming football last year?

Were the games on ABC/ESPN/ESPN2 streamed (for a fee) online last year?

In theory Rogers sort of almost maybe has the Big Ten network. In practice they have a selection of games available, which in 2008 included most games but in 2009 I wound up jumping from stream to stream or listening to the radio stream.

ESPN's online streaming, dating back to the old ESPN GamePlan Online package has always been available in Canada, to the best of my knowledge, since I have pretty much been getting it every year since I had my (illegal) DirectTV  dish removed (around 2003-2004).

As for the Big Ten Network, I was unable to get the online package last season.  I don't think it was available in Canada, most likely due to some providers now carrying the network.  Then again, I was able purchase the Spring Game feed a few weeks ago, so maybe it'll be available up here for this season.

Skimming through the ESPN propaganda I just saw Europe mentioned.

Rogers apparently signed a deal with the Big Ten Network late last year and it does show up in its "Sports Theme Pack." Naturally, it doesn't show up on their web site under the more expensive "Super Sports Pack," which is what I have.

I have this feeling I'll have to buy them both.

Edit: the rat bastards. It looks like I will have to buy them both.

once outside the provider's range espn360 no longer works. Go with slingbox.  As someone who lives abroad I can tell you it's the best option.

I watched all UM games last year on either ESPN 360, the Big10 network online streaming, or Slingbox.  I also have the American Forces Network and they broadcast some games too.

ESPN 360 is good because the game is almost immediately archived, so when it's on at 130 am here, I can get up and watch the archived version at a more normal time.

The Big10 network on line is truly HD; however, they do not have the archived version available until way later in the day, so if it's an early game you either have to watch it live or wait.  That's why Slingobox worked for me since I coud record the game broadcast on the B10 network and watch it at a reasonable wake up time.

It all depends on where you live, but using the 3 options above, you can watch them all pretty much.

I live in Ibiza, Spain and last year I used ESPN 360 which was a revelation.  The price for the year is 99 euros (about $125 today), but I took it month by month because I am only interested in football.  The price is 15 euros ($18) per month so the whole season is 60 euros(less than $80  at the current exchange rate).  The BTN games are not on but you can get them individually for I think $25 per game, however they had problems with their credit card system last year.
