People are going to try and discredit our wins. Can we let it slide?
You know people in the media are going to say "Crist didn't play"; "ND and U-Conn aren't that good"; "they were 4-0 last year".... Can we not freak out everytime someone does, let it go, enjoy our wins, get to 4-0, and then keep proving them wrong? In 20 years the only thing most will remember is we beat Notre Dame for the 4th time in 5 years. (See how much injuries matter in anyone's memory for Michigan 2005 and 2007). Let's act like we're Michigan, and they're just jealous, rather than jilted lovers trying to get the respect we deserve. Leave that to MSU. If you feel your BP rising, turn it off, stop reading, switch stations, and think Muppets.

Totally agree. We, at mgoblog, know how good we are (both strengths and weaknesses). We are going to hear "they started 4-0" in 2009 over and over the next few weeks. This year is very different, and we all know it. Ignore the ignorance and enjoy the success.

I don't know about the rest of you, but 3 weeks ago, I wasn't expecting, or hell, even hoping to compete for any titles. The past 2 weeks hasn't changed that, either. All we need to shoot for this year are wins, pretty or dayum ugly, doesn't matter. That and getting to a bowl game. And to be honest, even with 2 wins and all this hype, I still don't even care which one.

How about we just enjoy the feelings we have right now.  Great game to watch today but there were a few things that make me want to temper my enthusiasm.  Just like the haters will say, 4-0 last year, young QB that is being overhyped, etc.  I know that they are different years but we are still going to have to listen to it.

I am very excited watching this offense but I hope that 16 can keep things going.  There were many great throws today from him but I saw just as many that were thrown just behind the receiver where a catch was still made but the receiver was not able to get many YAC because he broke stride.  I just hope Denard can clean up those throws before someone really gets nailed.

As I said, enjoy what we are seeing but be aware of what could be.  Personally I will be walking around with a smile on my face but I will not be talking much trash to anyone.  I will just be saying, "Just watch the tape".  Like I saw on the thread about VT losing today what goes around comes around.  I want people to congratulate me on M having a great season and them not being afraid to approach me because I was an ass to them earlier in the season.

One more thing - that was F*^&$^% awesome!!!

Here's how this cretin finishes his piece:

"This could’ve been called the Wishful Thinking Bowl.

Michigan and Notre Dame are mirror images of each other, two of the bedrocks of college football royalty mutually stumbling in the dark in the hopes of finding a new identity more consistent with the game’s modern spirit.

Who would’ve ever guessed five years ago that both would run some variation of the spread as its base offense?

But both have deluded themselves into believing that any lapse into national irrelevance (today was the third time in the last four years that they met with neither ranked among the top 25) can’t help but be short-lived, if only through the sheer force of their tradition and quality brand names. It’ll be difficult, if not impossible, for both programs to join Ohio State among the northern football programs regularly ranking among the top 10 nationally."

I'm guessing that this was written before the game even started. But, and speaking as a journalist myself and accustomed to sports-writing on tight deadlines, you know not to publish your preconceptions when said preconceptions have been routed by events on the field.

I'm also guessing that Sharp never thought Alabama could ever return to national prominence either? Or maybe even he was just sensible enough to realise that dormant programmes - more dormant than UM has ever been these past 40 years - can regain their mojo. Which means that his latest hackery is dreary even by the stringent standards required to qualify for hackish hackery of the most banal and witless kind.

I feel bad even noting his latest dreary, witless, cvntish "article" but there you go.

Let other fan bases, and the media say what they want. Don't let what anybody says affect how you feel. The bottom line is that Notre Dame had the game won... but Michigan under difficult circumstances, on the road, facing a defense that knew what was coming... took the game from them.

Luck or Crist not playing, had nothing to do with Michigan's game winning drive.  Michigan executed under pressure, and Notre Dame had no answer. So enjoy the win, and to hell with what non Michigan fans think.

Let the haters talk.  They would talk regardless.  Remember the 2005 ND game where Mike Hart was knocked out of the game early in the 1st quarter?  Crist played a hell of lot more today than Hart did in that 05 game.  And ND pounded their chests over that 17-10 win.  So, whatever.  Injuries happen to everyone.  We've had a ton the last 5 years.

Enjoy the win today and enjoy it tomorrow.  I'll worry about our teams weaknesses later in the week once today's high wears off.

Go Blue!  Always!

How many of our OWN fans ignore our injuries in 2005...or 2007? The average fan or opposing fan won't care or remember anything other than we won. And frankly, after the last two years, I'll take any breaks we can get this year. We're owed one or twenty.

After the second ND TD, Michigan "decoded" Crist, and he really wasn't all that effective the rest of the game.  He was good, but not unbeatable.  If he had played the entire game, Michigan probably would have just figured him out sooner.  Crist wasn't perfect by any means and made some typical "rookie" passes, like the last one.  Michigan allowed a couple of big plays but did a very good job the rest of the day.

If I talk to anyone who starts that kind of crap, I will say one word: scoreboard.

made a good point that  the media will overreact to the results of today's game, but no one will really know  how good Michigan and Notre Dame are  until later in the season. While I would like to believe Michigan is great this year, I really don't know.  We won't know until we run through the gauntlet of Michigan State, Iowa, Penn State, Wisconsin and Ohio State. I frankly don't care if the media  says that we are awesome or unimpressive.  Lets just enjoy the journey.

On the other forums I go to, I see a lot of hate

THEY STARTED OFF WELL LAST YEAR TOO AND LOOK WHAT HAPPENED

THEY HAVEN'T PLAYED A GOOD DEFENSE YET

IIRC UConn was supposed to be good defensively and Denard lit them up

I think the true test of whether this is a good team or another flop comes in conference play. Got to do what Michigan's doing now, when it matters in conference play. Or else it'll be a lot like last season. Starting with Indiana and MSU...

Hear the same B.S comments every game (RR scandle, Tate transfer, more RR hate, Denard doesn't tie his shoelaces so that's why they call him Shoelace) until the day we die. Why? Because the bags of wind sitting in the press box and pencil pushing reporters have NOTHING else original to say. Even if we win two NC's; they'll revert to how much drama our team used to have. Expect to hear crap coming out of everyone's mouth for the next few years (except Matt Millen, he's sold on us).
