PennLive Take: Different Now than Last Week

I don't know how often anyone watches the post game video hits beat writers do, but the shock and awe on display here, to me, is pretty telling.

Shaquon Barkley was the best player for PSU - by far. If the Nittany Lions are going to run a spread attack with him, they have to have the QB run some of the time, otherwise it is NOT credible. They have to try for shoot outs.

The talent gap was clearly there. Franklin is in his 3rd year after two 7-6 years. Having endured similar situations in the recent pass, it may be a 3 and out situation.

On one hand, I roll my eyes too at hot take types who question an athlete's heart or will when they look like they would get winded on the way to the fridge. On the other hand, there are a lot of fat to morbidly obese coaches out there, many of whom have seen success (if not as a head coach, at least as an assistant).

Solari seems pretty good here. I shouldn't be surprised, but Sharp was an obnoxious jerk. Couch seems to think "fifth year senior" should be an important playing criteria, which doesn't make sense to me.

Sharp is really amazing. I actually felt bad for how obnoxiously he was trolling the MSU players. Who else has that kind of power?

No shit. They were surprised their offense couldn't do anything? Did they realize this was set up to be maybe the best defense in the nation after already fielding one of the best defenses last year while losing very few players?

They talked about not reaching .500 in conference play. They just played one of the best teams in the country on the road.

Normally I would kind of feel bad for a team if we were up 40 and still played the starters, but after seeing them do dumb shit like shush the crowd after defending a pass or celebrating a special teams tackle while being blown out, I'm happy Jim Harbaugh kept his foot on the gas.

I laughed aloud for at least five minutes as these commentators rapidly descended into the spirals of Hell, each's despair feeding the other's despair in a self chaining reaction of impending doom. It was beautiful, man, an instant classic.
