Some of these are new to me, re: Harvin and the Pouncy twins. Just based on this article Urban Meyer is a pretty slick. Well just read the article and you be the judge.

At Ohio there will be a lot less of this...

and a lot more of that:

as an actual Mgoblog article? The only stuff in that article is taken from an article he quotes as from 'Mgoblog'.
Or should I curtail the holiday booze? No, forget that...
I don't think it was an article. He just cited a board post as an Mgoblog article. I love you guys but I don't know how comfortable I would be using you guys as official sources...
Edit: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/will-urban-meyer-be-caught-another-tangle-li...
By cited I mean copied and pasted the whole post. Also, he doesn't know how to spell Urban Meyer.
Whatcha gonna do, little brother?
probably right I just did not see the previous post. I nvite the mods to delete if the post is redundant. Merry Christmas
"Runnnn!!! get to da choppa"
I say keep the post for laughs. How can this guy use message board posts and say they were reported in a "Michigan football publication?"
If I was Brian I'd actually be upset. Aren't there disclaimers when you sign up for a message board that say posts on the board don't reflect the views of the website? Yet, this guy said it was reported by Mgoblog. The stuff in the post is mostly rumors and heresay, fine for message board speculation but possible libel if stated as fact...
Whatcha gonna do, little brother?
Or as that PennLive author put it.....MGO BLOG
If you're doing nothing, how do you know when you're finished?
I dont think Urban liar ever oversigned, ill give him that. However he does lie, but he had to lie because every SEC coach is a liar.
he did make a big stink about "other SEC schools practice of oversigning. That being said I read cannot remember where but Urban has his own way of trimming the roster of guys he's not interested in. Sorry no sources, or references. The jist of the insider post was Urban challenged his players to leave now if they don't want to be at Florida. Then he locked the all of the players in a gym and ran them until he "thined" the herd as it were. don't quote me but I remember reading that on a Florida board from a self proclaimed insider, other posters seem to support his claims. FWIW
"Runnnn!!! get to da choppa"
3&O said Rodriguez did the exact same thing, so I don't really think we can complain about that.
"Here we are at Ohio Stadium, in front of 10,000 alumni and 74,000 truck drivers." - Bob Ufer
RR is gone. He is not our coach. So, sure, we can complain. And, because rr is gone, it is not hypercritical.
Three and Out said that RR did that with players who refused to show up in shape. Bo did the same thing, and I'm assuming Carr and Moeller did as well (and I hope Hoke also would).
There's a huge difference between disciplining guys who violate team rules and what the post above alleges Meyer did.
Go Blue!
Nowhere in bluesouth's original comment did it specify who Urban did it to. It says he "locked all the players in the gym" and "thinned the herd." This happens at every school, probably almost every year. It gets players who aren't keeping up their fitness off the team without being a weasel and telling a kid "you aren't good enough" and revoking their scholarship.
Also, there's a difference between kids not keeping up with off-season workouts and coming in out-of-shape (what 3&O alleges), and "punishing kids for violating team rules." Those kids may not have been giving 100% and letting their teammates down, but they were not violating team rules. I can't speak to the original article bluesouth alludes to but what he laid out sounds virtually identical to what RichRod did. (Which I see nothing wrong with, for the record.) In fact, one could argue RichRod more directly targeted guys he wished were gone, whereas Urban put his entire team through it.
"Here we are at Ohio Stadium, in front of 10,000 alumni and 74,000 truck drivers." - Bob Ufer
The gist of the post was that Meyer locked the entire team in the gym, and the first people to drop were out. To me, that's much shadier than saying that the entire team was responsible for a certain set of mile times and making the ones who didn't make it go puke at six in the morning, especially when only 3/115ish couldn't make it. You could lock the entire field of Olympic marathoners in a gym and somebody will drop first, it really has nothing to do with fulfilling your responsibilities to your team, and to me that's the difference between what's normal/Michigan does and trying to find more roster space like it was alleged Meyer does.
Also, as far as I've ever heard in college athletics (and was stated in 3&O), showing up out of shape is definitely a violation of rules in some form, because some sort of punishment is expected.
Go Blue!
not Florida, and "Black Wednesday" had more to do with off-field issues than on-field performance. The upperclassmen were skipping classes, showing up late to team meetings, etc. Urban warned them that there would be consequences; when behavior didn't improve, he ran their asses until they quit or demonstrated a better attitude.
That fact that they can't spell Urban's last name right makes it hard to take this article seriously
We know he lies, and will continue to lie. But none of that is against the rules, and it also works. A few will see through it or be turned off by it, but He will get a lot of recruits because of it none the less. It will now be a reality, so we better just get used to it and hope our staff is up to the task of combating it.
The sad part is it works. It worked at Florida even in the SEC against other liars, Hoke and Mattison need to do something to counter Urbans lieing. Just like that article said, schools have been recruiting Spence for 2-3 years, Meyer comes in and gets him to committ in 10 days. I really wish I knew what he told Spence. We gotta get used to it thought, this guy knows what hes doing, and will recruit or win at any cost, thats why his health went to shit. Everyone is so happy Ohio got a bowl ban next year, im not. Urban will now be throwing all of his energy into recruiting in the whole month of December. There also wont be any pressure on Urban to come in and be the savior of Ohio.
I wouldn't worry about Spence too much. He was PSU the whole way in his recruitment until they became a tire fire. Meyer just made a good pitch, but probably nothing spectacular. Not like he flipped Spence after he was on the verge of committing to Joe Pa.
by Spence. Just my speculation, PSU is a tire fire and there is no incumbent coach for the kid to build a relationship with. Michigan is full of DE talent, Ohio is still close to home it's a big time program and of course they paid him or his family a bundle. Okay that last part went too far.
"Runnnn!!! get to da choppa"
Everyone must be hitting the eggnog hard today. The grammar and punctuation in this thread so far is rough at best.
"Michigan Defense" is dominating everything, in every aspect of life. That's a rough definition.

That guy used my post ... pretty much word for word ... Next time he can just call me and I'll sum up an article for him, that way he wont have to paste it word for word.
But it's all good ... hopefully more and more recruits will read the bullshit Meyer is full of, and their parents will see this as well.
No way in hell I would want my kid playing for that sneaky bastard.

wresler120, My intent was not to upset you believe me. But this is all just about football. I don't take too much of this stuff seriously. Unfortunately the nature of the internet or for any media where there is an abundance of user content we are going to get a lot of non atribution, poorly ref material ( im guilty see my post above). But when internet guy who may be loosely referred to as "blogger" post something without any fiduciary responsibility or code of ethics it's just light entertainment. FWIW
"Runnnn!!! get to da choppa"
Wow this is some good stuff, hopefully his recruits get a chance to read it

Seriously, the guy who wrote that can't spell Meyer and got all of his information from right here. I want my ten seconds back.

I liked how he lied in his press conference though, telling all of Colombus he was going to mix pro style sets into his offense. Anyone who heard that who wasn't a buckeye fan knew he was just saying it to calm the masses.
and Ohio really do seem like a match made in heaven. I hope he violates there probation and then leaves town citing health concerns as his reason for leaving. In fact that is what I would like for christmas next year.

Here's an Orlando Sentinel article that references the Tebow/Snead story. It apparently originally appeared in a book by Bruce Feldman.
It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future. -- Yogi Berra
he has no staying power at an institution because his wins are u based on a bed of lies. Look how Florida went 180 degree in the opposite direction with their new coach. I have a close friend who is a UF booster...they were ready to run him out of town.
Fat chance. Urban had two national championships in his short time at Florida. Not even Nebraska would be dumb enough to run him out.
its how the world works, they feel comfortable with each other.
I can only imagine what Meyer said, but if only more high schools had Goethe on the required reading list, we could ward against such recruiting tactics.
