Penn State Snowflakes: The Coaching

Submitted by LSAClassOf2000 on

This will be the repository for your thoughts on coaching and general hot takes regarding the quality of coaching for our game against Penn State.

Also, people have asked about it, so if you have rebranding ideas and want to call these threads, something else, I am listening.

Yep. I was at the Tenn-Florida game yesterday and UT made an amazing comeback to break an 11 year losing streak. With 5 seconds to go, Butch called TO with the team at the 4 yard line of Florida up 10 pts. The crowd erupted thinking he was going to punch it in, but they just handed it off to the RB who made it to the 2 yard line. Game over. Great victory, but the fans all felt the same sense of "why not just punch it down their throats to make up for 11 years of embarrassment?" It's seemed proportional to their smack talk. I love that Harbaugh only takes a knee once a team has been obliterated to the point of the opposing coach being put on the hot seat!

They fix everything game at a time. I love it. OL and RBs were awesome today. This offense is humming. I am not sure what Wisconsin will focus on now. Running or Passing? Seeing how they use TEs and RBs to create diversions is just amazing.

Could have avoided the confusion by saying PSU's defense instead of this defense. And then your next sentence references seeing improvement next week. So I don't think anyone was out of line assuming you were talking about our defense.

Except, of course, common sense should kick in eventually and the reader should realize that there's not too much to complain about with our defense. And maybe you're not insane, just not terribly specific.

Would have liked to get out with no injuries and it would have been good to protect starters by not playing them on special teams in the 4th quarter of a blowout Better hope Clark is ok

It's unfortunate he got hurt, but come on: At some point you have to condition the players to play something close to a full game, especially with Wisconsin coming up. If that injury happens three and a half minutes earlier (i.e., in the 3rd quarter), do you feel better about it?

And if the 1st team O and D are still out there, then the same should go for special teams. Treating special teams like they don't matter is how you wind up with the previous regime's special teams.

The fact that Clark was injured on a non contact play leads me to believe that that injury could've happened anytime, anywhere. Getting in the shower. Going for a run. Walking to class. In practice. Should Harbaugh make sure his starters stay in a plastic bubble during the weak and avoid those things as well???
