Penn State "Helps" Georgia State with Camp
I didn't see this posted and I think this is a big change to recruiting.
James Franklin and the other Penn State coaches are heading to Georgia State to "help" them with their camp. This apparently is allowed by the rules. They look at it as mutually beneficial because Penn State gets access to southern recruits without forcing them to pay to get to Happy Valley and Georgia State gets better qualtiy recruits to come to the camp. This is somewhat similar to the Sound Mind/Sound Body camp although this is actually assisting another program with their camp.
The NCAA rule is that you are not allowed to hold a camp in another state unless you are on the border and within a 50 mile radius.
I have to credit Franklin for finding this way around the rule. I would expect many other programs to jump on this since the NCAA probably has their hands too full to clamp down on it.
Brian posted this in Unverified Voracity the other day
I didn't see any comments on it surprisingly. I think it's a pretty major change to the recruiting landscape.
I would guess that 12 months from now, the NCAA will have closed this loophole.
As Brian said: "Clever idea ... for now."
We should do one in Cali, Texas, and Florida annually. This is pretty smart thinking.
To hell with Penn State!!
In before the delete!
I hope a sinkhole swallows that school into the lowest depths of hell.
