Penn State Apparently at 3:30

Submitted by ChalmersE on
I haven't seen an announcement, but mgoblue.com is now listing the Penn State game as a 3:30 start. (If this has been posted elsewhere, my apologies. I did a search and didn't see it anywhere.)

+1 for that comment. I totally agree. I had a friend get married the day of the Michigan vs MSU game in 1997. I had tickets to the game and I told him I would see him at the reception. I was not giving up seeing this game for anything. Also, he ended up getting divorced so just a bad vibe all around. I guess I could understand getting married the day of say a game vs WMU, but NOT Michigan vs MSU. Some things must remain sacred.

And I love her for it. In fact, she was recently asked why we where getting married next summer and she said "we want to get married outdoors, this summer would not have been enough time to plan, spring is too cold, and don't even think we'd have it during Michigan football season."

My stepsister got married last year on the day of the Illinois game. I would have been in attendance if not for said wedding. In hindsight, I think I'm glad I wasn't there. This was still when we had some hope for 2008, at which point Juice Williams stomped, stabbed, and skewered any that was left. I was able to catch some of the second half at the reception hall bar before the reception began. I was stinking drunk from the party trolley after the ceremony and nearly got kicked out during one of Illinois' numerous second half TDs as I let fly a string of obscenities filled with F-bombs.

My girlfriend's dad is getting married that afternoon. She found out three weeks ago that they decided to get married on the 24th, and caught me blindsided when she asked me to go. There will be friends of mine coming in from across the country for recent grad weekend. I haven't really said if I will be at the wedding, which which is Grosse Pointe, and now with the late kick I will be forced to make one decision or another.

If it's her dad and she's part of the wedding party and may be busy with the wedding, she may not really need a date. Maybe u can use that to get out of it. If you guys aren't serious, you could always play the "I don't know how comfortable I am at this stage of the relationship" card. But if u guys are serious, u can suck it up and try and find a TV there if it's at a hotel or some place connected to a bar. If not, just leave ur blackberry or phone at home and thank whoever invented Tivo.

I just found out, i.e. my wife just told me, I will be driving to Atlanta on Saturday, November 7th. I'm hoping for a 3:30 kick that day too so I can watch the game, but I think this will depend on if Ohio State-Penn State is a night game. I doubt anyone knows anything about that, but I thought I'd throw it out there. I think the rest of the B10 schedule sucks that day so I'm pretty confident we'd get the 3:30 slot IF OSU-PSU is at night. If they're at 3:30, we'll be at noon and I'm screwed. Guess I'll settle for satellite radio.

If ABC wants a Big Ten game at 3:30 that week, it really just wants the best game it can get. If Michigan vs team X is a great matchup, there is no reason ABC wouldn't take it, if available. But it might think another matchup is better. I would. Then again Western Michigan was a 3:30 ABC kick, so who knows.

In 1979 my new wife and I were at the Ohio State game. She was so bored she pulled out a paperback and started reading. Yup, still married.

That I have been with that if they have thoughts of a fall wedding that I am not the right guy for them. In fact the day of my wedding reception was the day of the UM/OSU game in 2004. Needless to say I watched the game instead of paying attention to the bride. Also needless to say that, marriage fizzled quickly. I also quit my job back in 2002 to go to the Michigan/Washington Phil Brabbs game. I was going into the military 3 months down the line so it was well worth it.

Well, I had to deal with the wedding thing this season. My cousin decided to get married in Chicago the day of Eastern. So I sent my wife by train that morning, went to the game, waited till we were up 2 TDs and got that fumble (damn, couldn't we have blown them out sooner?), hopped in the car (had a great parking spot that I got early for free...usually walk), headed out, got there before the reception. My brother got married on a Michigan game day (unfortunately the Minnesota loss game), but he did it in a small ceremony after the game. The Priest, a season ticket holder, offered to do it at the game, but they thought that would be too chaotic. My best friend held his local reception 2006 ND game day. So watched first half at the bar, came to the hotel, watched the second half in their bar/lounge, then walked across the hall to the reception. But my favorite wedding story is actually my best friend's- he went to a high school/college buddy's wedding on a fall Saturday. During the reception, the groom gave his speech and said "Today is the happiest day of my life....Michigan beat Iowa today".
