being a Michigan fan and a Pats fan. The Pats defense has been pretty darn horrible this year...so I wouldn't bring this up in conversation with rivals...

I don't think it's been horrible. They're only giving up 20 points per game and 265 yards per game.
They're 3rd in total defense and 15th in scoring.

Also the problem from what ive seen (which is very little) is pressure from the d-line...
Linebackers seem fine but their d-line has looked subpar without seymour.
They look like they lose the LOS every play.

Seymour was not really utilized as a pass rusher in that defense. He was mostly tasked with taking up multiple blockers so that the LBs had gaps to attack.
That being said losing Harrison, Vrable, Bruschi, Seymour, Hobbs, and now Mayo is really taking it's toll on the D.
Dan Pees on the pass rush:
"We can always improve in the rush, but also some of it designed by gameplan to play some coverage and some of it was designed to put some pressure on them. We didn't always get there like wanted to, but really we've just got to improve in both the coverage part of it and the rush."

I think the defense has played fine. Brady does not look good so far. When is the last time you saw him get multiple (or any!) delay of game penalties in a game? So that's where all our linebackers went....

and the line looks very ordinary. The delay of game I believe resulted because Tom was having to make multiple adjustments to the blocking schemes. Put Jake Long there and watch Tom tear the Jets apart.
I have to say I am getting a little tired of the Pats letting good players go just because they don't want to pay them.

Well at least they're better then the Sparty receivers. Rogers and Plaxico have been in the new a lot lately.

more the offensive play callings fault than it is Bradys fault. He's thrown 100 times in 2 games while they've only run like 50 times. Its not hard to defend a passing game when a team is not concerned with the run. Isn't Pierre Woods on the Patriots as well?...
September 23rd, 2009 at 10:48 AM ^
he is the "Woods" referred to as one of the 3 former Wolverines...
September 23rd, 2009 at 11:03 AM ^
I'll neg myself for that one...
September 23rd, 2009 at 10:15 AM ^
if only the Patriots would get some Wolverines on offense.

Just sayin'

I agree... shouldn't that pretty much be the default font around here? I have definitely learned to err on the sarcastic side of life when entering the mgoblog world.

Sad to see him go as both a Ravens fan and a Michigan fan, but I'll root for him b/c he was way buried on the depth chart.
