Paranoid "Young Female Kittens"

Submitted by New Carr on

This blog has become the equivalent of the American political arena circa 2001 - 2007, when criticizing the Iraq war was "Anti-American" or "Unpatriotic."

Every time I make a comment here, I must preface it with....I fully support RR, I like where this team is going, etc.....

Just looking through the posts, any comments critical of the team's performance are ripe for negative points, where comments such as "we put up 500+ yards on Iowa" get the big thumbs up.

I get it....we all get it.  We want Michigan to be successful.  We want RR to remain the head coach.  The team is showing some improvements.  The team is young, needs time, etc.  Yes, the vultures are out there, waiting to feed on the carcass of RR, just hoping to push him out the door, as they did not approve his hire from day 1....  Yes, it's annoying to deal with these "fans" who would seemingly rather Michigan lose to prove the point that RR is not a good coach, than potentially swallow the fact that they were wrong and he can be successful here....even with his innovative schemes and lack of ties to the old Blue chroniyism network.

Got it....But enough is enough.  To not accept or acknowledge reoccurring issues on the offensive and defensive side of the ball is ridiculous.  Simply saying "they are young" or "we need more RR recruits" does not explain idiotic late hit penalties and losing the turnover battle 4-0.

One can both support the coaching staff and be critical of certain issues that continue to plague the team...especially when these issues are not all due to "youth" or "lack of depth."  Give it a break....the paranoia is ridiculous.  The hunky-dory, all is great posts will not save RR's job, just like the moronic anti-RR comments won't cost him it.

Only one man has the power to make the decision on RR's future here (Brandon), and I am sure he is much more qualified and level headed than the masses (such as myself) that flock here to post after the 3rd string punter sneezes.  If we the pro-RR contingent continue to ignore correctable issues that occur on the field, we will start to sound as idiotic as the Drew Sharp mafia that was calling for his head from day 1.

I know, and its obvious that RR has not been given a fair shake here and the initial reaction of his supporters are to be defensive and blindly loyal.  However, criticizing a particular series of play calls, or unsportsmanlike penalties does not make one a program terrorist.  We can have expectations for how this team should play in spite of their youth, lack of depth, inexperience, etc.  And when I say "expectations", I do not mean placing an arbitrary 7-5 or 8-4 record as the standard to "save RR's job."  I mean certain things should be occurring on the field week in, week out that show progress (especially in easily correctable areas such as unforced turnovers and penalties).

What I was about to add on to my post is that you can get away with most any opinion as long as you do it calmly, logically, and respectfully. Saying "I think Demens has better reactionary skills and can identify the gap better than Ezeh, and therefore should be given a shot at meaningful playing time" is much different than "OMG I've WATCHED this time since I was FOUR FUCKIN' YEARS OLD and I have NEVER seen a MLB as bad as Ezeh. Demens is SO good why aren't we starting him I'm SO FED UP, the coaches MUST BE DUMBASSES" in the same way that saying "This blog is highly critical of dissent from the coaching style" is far different from calling everyone "paranoid pussies". While the MGoBoard is here to promote debate/polarizing opinions, there's a right way to argue, and there's a wrong way to argue.

I negged you despite being in agreement that that RR should be let go. Calling everyone on this board "pussies" is a bit much. This website/board has higher standards than the rest of the internet, therefore that kind of language is unacceptable.

Sure fire banning?  It's that sort of mentality that makes this blog seem "elistiest" and at times, over-controlled by the mods.

I will say his title was a TERRIBLE decision, but what he wrote was more level-headed than anything I could have expected after reading the title.

Ban for this?  Unconstitutional I say.

To go out and personally attack the entire blog; diary posters, writers, creators, editors, contributors, etc. was mor ethan just a terrible decision. It is the type of decision that makes me hope he has lost his privilage to come here and contribute. Come back anytime and read, but you have proven yourself far too immature to continue to add anything. Oh, and last I checked this isn't a fucking democracy. The last thing I want is to have a young kid come here and see a thread title calling everyone a sexist term. Kthxnxbai.

Yes...You are the uber-politically correct douche that takes himself way too seriously.  The exact person for which this entry was written. Grow a sack and pull the beads out of ur anus...."Sexist term"...seriously...welcome to the real world.  Oh, and your hypocrisy is ridiuclulos....OMG...you used "Fucking" in your entry....I would hate to see a "young kid come on here and see that".....Grow up douche....people use bad language.

+1 from a "Real Deal" Wolverine for the sentiment.  No Wal-Mart here...not that there's anything wrong with that.

-1 for the foul language.  I would think any elite Michigan person, just by association, should be able express their thoughts in an appropriate way without having to resort to obscenities.

I still agree with the sentiment, though!

I don't think your title is really going to impress anybody into reading your opinion though.

I actually think "fans" that refuse to give or acknowledge honest and fair criticism because they "support RR" are just as bad as "fans" that refuse to acknowledge that some of the problems aren't RR's fault.

I also can't believe this fan base has been battered enough to seek out moral victories (see "we really beat ourselves thread" in which there are 60 posts saying how we would have won if not for several things that actually happened) in games where we trail by 21 in the 4th quarter.

So you want to be a negative nancy and bitch and moan everytime the O or D makes a mistake. Get over yourself! I am so tired of all the fans that have nothing good to say and just want to bitch. IF you think you could do a better job then lets see it...otherwise just read what the knowledgable people have to say and keep your comments for your buddies at the bar.

Blogs will always end up like what you describe. It's like high school cliques. To save yourself the frustration, stop reading the blog or don't post. Otherwise, grow some thick skin and accept that there are going to be jihadists on here that will attack you if you don't conform to their irrational way of thinking.

I agree people do have the right to critisize but you can't just say, "are defense sucks" or 'fire Rich Rod" these are the type of statement's that upset me/most. As Michigan fans where better than that. I actually love this team and where it's heading, especially the defence. For the next two plus years we have Floyd (59-tackles) Kovacs (61-tackles)+ 6.5 tfl...The Gordon's have a combined 69-tackles and I truely beleive Cam is going to be a beast when they are able to put someone with alot of speed next to him, (hopefully Wolfolk next year). I thought Demens was and upgrade yesterday in the run. I feel like I could go on an on but I don't want to take your post hostage. Guy's I know the last two weeks have been hard but I truely beleive this team has a solid chance at being 8-2 hosting Wisconsin in the Big House, so let's stop all the b.s. and take this off-week to rally around are team, they need/deserve us...Don't be a part time blue bleeder, bleed blue 4 life.

I have never knocked somebody for voicing his or her opinion coherently, but I will neg away on people who post stuff like "this team sucks and you guys suck, fire everybody" or who are clear trolls.  This is your opinion, and I get how this blog can be insular at times.  But at the same time, most of the negativity is directed at new posters who come in with "crazy" ideas like having a better defense, letting Denard just do his thing, and blaming the losses on refrees/bad luck/etc. without anything else substantial.

The team lost the past two weeks because they made mistakes against good teams, but maybe everyone should give credit to those other teams for, you know, creating some of those turnovers, false starts, etc.  UM put up 28 on a defense that only gives up around 11 points per game, but still recorded 4 turnovers that were at least partly due to Iowa playing well defensively.  There were mental breakdowns and system breakdowns that need to be addressed, and the talent "excuse" only goes so far when guys are making dumb football decisions that they should have picked up years ago.

But right now, this is the team UM is going to field.  Some weeks it will win, some weeks it will lose.  But creating posts calling out the entire blog or attacking a minor contigent is unnecessary, even if it needs to be said every once and a while.  We get that fans are irrational; that is why "fan" comes from "fanatic."  But don't post something like this if you don't expect some backlash.

My question is, does being a fan of a team give you the right to complain or be critical, especially if you have no idea what is going on beyond the knowledge that fandom provides? Not aimed at anyone in particular, but it is easy to complain about the taste of an apple if the only apple you have tasted was delicious. I see this on the board a lot. Let's call it an unwillingness to feel inferior for a short period of time because you have never felt inferior before. I don't think people are given a hard time because they don't support RR, I think it has much to do with the argument they present when being critical, in that, this apple tastes bitter and they just don't know how to deal with it, so they lash out and make awesome claims with no backing from reality. The pussies seems to be the ones that can't tolerate losing, because historically there hasn't been much. But I say, a bitter apple makes a delicious apple even more so. Instead of critical complaining, embrace the process, otherwise it won't be any fun at all.

You can criticize any coach, I think most people are okay with this... but it's all about how you do it.

From what I've seen on this board the last two or so weeks, people seem so aggravated as if RR himself is throwing games just to piss you off.  No one should hold this team to the standard of perfection.  Mistakes will be made.    We hadn't turned the ball over much or even at all the first few games, we're just regressing to the mean.If you can't see progress (primarily on the offensive side of the ball) then you're not paying attention.

What's more, you're not able to respect and enjoy the process of transforming this team into a national contender.  Someone on this board said if he were Brandon, he'd look for an offensive performance with 5 TDs in one game against a good B10  D.  Is Four TD's enough?

Seriously, why bicker? It doesn't make losing any better. If you want to point out areas where improvement is needed, or how this can be done, fantastic.  If you're looking to strike up genuine conversation to learn or teach something, fantastic.  If you're looking to vent, that is sometimes acceptable, but do realize when you vent, you ought to be careful, as you're going to strike a nerve with folks on the interwebs.

I love you,

Will

Since most of you are still reeling after yesterday's loss, and the bickering will likely continue until Penn State, I'd suggest the following to relive the tension*:

Go home, rub one out, kill some terrorists on MW2, Medal of Honor of Bad Company 2 if you prefer; rub another one out, take a massive dump and go to sleep.

Then later today, rub one out and ask God for forgiveness to cure your serial masturbation. Problem solved.

* Results may vary. Seek a doctor for an erection lasting more than four hours.

I don't like it when people post their opinions on the game because I don't care. Besides, think about if everybody on this blog posted a new thread with their opinion on the game. I never really understood where people find the audacity to think people actually care what they thought about the game.

I don't start new threads on how I feel about a win or loss because I'm not a coach, player, recruit, or random football genius. I'm an average fan, just as most of the people starting threads that hold no purpose whatsoever, if not all of them, are.

If you would've been around for more than a week you would know that I rarely post my opinion on a game, and when I do it's more of a "calm down, the world isn't ending" type of post. I don't give a huge rant about crap that everybody knows. Go away.

is still incorrect.  Paranoia or the state in which one expereinces paranoia ie.. paraniod is when  you believe not think but believe someone or something is after you spying on you ect.

I really don't beleive anyone is really after anyone on this board,  but I can be delusional in that respect.  disbelief in spite of evidence to the contrary?

Comment on the Iowa loss we are a young team, with some grea talentt, middling talent and some average talent  that says to me we will lose some we are not supose to and win some that we are not suppose to.  And believe RR we are not good enough to make mistakes and win, like some senior laden teams.
